Actually, they also came up with "Trinity" "Darkness" and "Orcs and Elves". (which also, aren't that great)
I don't really see what is the big deal with all of this though, it's not like a game is defined by it's name, sure it's a pretty bad name, but that doesn't mean anything for the game.
Also, Quake Quake2 and Quake3 is the same IP in name only. (Well, that and a few textures and in Quake3's case characters)
I wonder though, why is it that in games each game can't have the same name as another game made by another company, while in movies, they don't seem to have this issue.
For instance, there's (atleast) three movies called "(The) Patriot"
