altdeath, a new site that has been put up recently by AlexMax. In the spirit of sites such as quakeworld.nu, esreality, and Team Liquid, the new site aims to cater to the multiplayer Doom community. From the first post:
I believe that the multiplayer Doom community has been split along port lines for far too long. You have the "official" Skulltag community, the "official" ZDaemon community, an Odamex community and the IDL, and each one is pretty cleanly separated from the other. I think that if the communities can have a common meeting ground, it can have positive effects for multiplayer Doom as a whole.
A more complete site is forthcoming, but for now there is a temporary blog where current going-ons are posted. You can submit news via the contact link, or you can also message AlexMax or Chaindude via IRC with your scoops. There is also an official forums and a quite-populous IRC channel, both of which are linked from the main site.

Yeah, right now the page is pieced together from bits I found while I work on the "real" site in the background, so for right now I'm just using a slightly modified template. I promise I'll get a better template for the new site, but I'm not a designer by any stretch of the imagination, so any help in making a nice-looking template would be appreciated as well. :)

Creating quality website designs has never really been my forté. But if you want help with some graphics I probably can help. Though I am streached for time these days.

Graphic help is actually what I need most. I have a good idea what I want the layout and the color scheme of my site to be already, you can see a template I made a few months ago here:

I think it looks pretty nice so far, but if you look closely you'll see that all I'm using is gradients. It's gotten me this far, but I think it's missing some subtle touches like what you'd see on http://www.teamliquid.net/ or http://quakeworld.nu . I also need a logo...an obvious choice would be the altdeath respawn cloud but it's blue and it'd be cool if I had something distinct and not just a doom sprite. :)

A site in my honor?

Thanks guys!

Actually this looks interesting, particularly the organized matches and tournaments sections. I hope to see some fresh maps and competitions come from it.

No, it's not a novel concept. But it's still a good concept. It's something that the MP scene of Doom has lacked for a long time now.

Maybe this site could be tied up with the Doom Radio project Banks was talking about. The radio show could have a dedicated multiplayer news section with match results and the like and the site could maybe stream or at least offer download links for the show?
