I'm doing a play-through of Doom 3 right now and in doing so also exploring what it did right, what it did wrong and what it almost got right. I really hope that Phobos makes the engine and concept reach its full potential.

You can pick up used copies of Doom 3 and RoE for a few dollars probably.

Yeah, my copy had a chip in disc one, so I couldn't re-install it onto a more powerful computer for my second playthrough. I had to buy a new one; found it for only $8 on eBay.

You could just feed your code into steam and install it through that.
