Doom II Redux or: HILTSTAUGT is a work-in-progress Boom-compatible re-imagined version of Doom II by Tarnsman. The visual quality of the levels is mind-blowing given that these are the author's "first maps" and they have an overall fresh look with homages to the original Doom titles and Final Doom.
  • Skill: Ultra Violence, 2x Monster Damage
  • PWADs: D2Ra2W, tskins1e, miekskins-r3
  • Maps: 01-11
  • Lives: 1
  • Players: 25/50
  • Servers: [L@P] & [DUI] NJ
  • When: 20:00 GMT Euro - 8pm EST US
If you are tired of slaying cacos and can't get enough of the new 32in24-11, then you get yet another chance to play it Team Deathmatch style this Saturday at ZDS #220. Plenty of fragging to be had; just grab the latest ZDaemon client and join the fun.

I <3 this pick. :) Strongly considering participating here. With one life let me warn it'll be a challenge!

Not to mention I've been waiting to try 32in24-11, but there's been no one on. :( What time is the Saturday event scheduled for.

I hope so! It's what we live for, though If settings need to be altered we can easily do that on the fly, though I don't think we've ever made things easier. ;)

ZDS starts @ 19:00 GMT for the Euro session; and @ 21:00 EST for the US session (The times are always announced in the forum posts).
Also I would expect to see a permanent server or two for this awesome pack.

Haven't tried this wad yet so it should be interesting.

Of course, I'm gonna be the token "lol I die in 90% of the maps" dude like I usually am if the past couple of TNS sessions are anything to go by :P.

the server settings are carefully customized to kill anima reliably in the first seconds of every map! it's the TNS version of "the black dude dies first" cliche. :)

I had no expectation this alpha would ever be used in something like this, but since it is, I hope it's not too much trouble to ask if it uses the latest version.

Here - http://www.mediafire.com/?92s6l4hdp37gjm4

I wasn't planning on releasing another version of the alpha, but I figure this called for it. Nothing major changed, just a few new secrets, bug fixes, and minor balance tweaks.

I'd view it as a positive this is being used for a match. It's a great work in progress and I think this should help it get more attention. :)

Nothing I know of now, but I can never be SURE of anything.

OP should probably be updated for new version given 20:00 GMT tomorrow is only about 24 hours from now. (19:30 GMT today as I'm posting this, if I'm correct.)

Not at all, it's not too late yet. I've updated the configuration on the original TNS thread, however I seem to be unable to edit the newspost I made here.

Would be much appreciated if a moderator could change the first PWAD link to:

Haha, precisely.

I guess the fact fast monsters will not be in effect for the session means I'll have a very slightly reduced chance of being the first person to die in a level.

Oh yeah, just incase anybody is curious...dew does not lie about me. I really do have the ability to die in the first 5 seconds of a map quite easily, heh.

Hopefully nobody does a drinking game based on my dying in this upcoming session or they're probably gonna be drunk halfway through :P.

Euro sesh will be live in a few minutes, I left it late to try to upload the WAD to L@P and am somehow having a problem with doing just that; but we have the ever helpful and generally awesome Krawa providing a [XXX] 1.09 Germany server... And it's up! phew.

Version 4 because singleplayer testing doesn't account for bugs created by 20 people playing the map at once.

Haha yeah. I'm always the one dying and I end up having to clutch here :P.

I like how everyone on the tns sessions are slowly catching onto how often I die too. In relation to map 8 UV-fast, I got lovely quotes like "How is Anima still alive" and "He should have died 8 minutes ago" (When we were about 9 minutes into that attempt).

Quite a few people popped up for the Euro session which is nice. Here's hoping the us session is active as well.

http://i.imgur.com/UvDf3.png - Anima was indeed a hero in a couple of maps; with some epic efforts by memfis too. :)

How was the US session? I had to sleep but AmigaForever (who runs [DUI] NJ) said the server was popular for 3-4 hours! Would have been cool to see the updated version run smoothly but argh, had to call it a night.

http://imgur.com/a/unVeM - A few more pics just to show off a couple of nice-looking areas; and the record of 31 players being matched!!!

Also I edited together some footage just for fun. You'll see a few brutal deaths, nice solo efforts and low-gravity shenanigans from where we became stuck and had to toggle some effects... Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHRcblEB4aQ

P.S. ZDS #220 - 32in24-11: Occupy Doomworld in 15minutes!!!
