Just out of curiosity, which anime do you guys like? Or do you even like anime?

I personally like the following (in this order, more or less):
1. The Bubblegum Crisis 2032 (I used to have a crush on Priss).
2. Neon Genesis Evangelion.
3. Akira.
4. Urasei Yatsura (which I often refer to as Japanese Insanity).
5. Jin-Roh.
6. Ghost in The Shell.
7. Project: A-Ko.
8. Ninja Scroll.
9. Serial Experiments Lain
10. Sol Bianca.
11. The Amazing Nurse Nanako (talk about Jell-O).

i have only seen Neon genesis evangalion and Akira.My vote goes for Evangalion.

I would recommend "Berserk".The story is about a lone swordman`s adventure who seeks revenge from the man who betrayed the swordman for his dream.there are both anime and manga.I think Manga version is better than Anime.Read it if you can find one!

I just finished reading Ghost in the Shell. It made only slightly more sense than the movie did. But the manga was more entertaining than the movie, IMHO.

Anyway, I've seen so much anime I think I'm turning Japanese. My favorite so far has been Darkside Blues. It's super-classic anime, check it. Other favorites: Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon (yes, I'm serious), Escaflowne, Slayers, Urusei Yatsura, Serial Experiments: Lain, Kite, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Dragon Pink (hee! Pink and I have so much in common), Inu-Yasha, Vampire Hunter D, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Boogiepop Phantom, Demon City Shinjuku, Hellsing, and lastly, the Bubblegum Crash/Crisis series. Wicked-sick.

I watched a swath of Slayers episodes at a boardgaming con during a long break (where I was supposed to get some sleep).

They were actually pretty funny. Otherwise, nothing (besides some Pokemón, but that hardly counts).

I developed a case of chronic allergy to Anime after fifteen minutes of Dragonball Z.

I mean, shit, there's two things that can make a cartoon compelling: good writing, or good visuals. I'll gladly watch a cartoon with good writing and crappy visuals (South Park), one with crap writing and good visuals (can't come up with one right now), or one that has both (the Simpsons).

But so far every bit of anime I've seen has horrible writing AND looks like something that came out of a monkey's ass. I just don't get it.

I watched very few anime. Escaflowne had a good story and the visual was well done. I also watched Gundam wing when it was on tv, which also had a nice story IMHO. I've been a fan for a while of dbz but since they always replay the same episodes I stopped watching it.

Zoids -old and new. I don't have the models though. Or a really big freak about it.

Tenchi Universe is ok.

I didn't like Akira at first, but it kind of grew on me.
Ghost in the Shell is good... but the manga is better.
Neon Genesis Evangeleon is good if you want to think.
Yu-Yu Hakusho and Inu-Yasha are pretty good.
I've only seen part of Hack Sign, but it seems pretty good.
Angelic Layer is good... if only to see Ich-chan's antics.
DBZ is decent, though the original series is better, but if you want to see a fighting based anime then watch Flame of Rekka.
Kenshin had it's moments, and btw, did anyone catch the Kenshin secret in Warcraft 3?
The Chinese zodiac really interrests me, so I had to watch Fushigi Yugi.
Gundam seems to be a popular series, but I could only really enjoy the original and G.
Cowboy Beebop is good enough to be watched more than one time.
Anything by Gibli Studios is good.
Vampire Hunter D will always be a favorite of mine.

And then there's Boogiepop Phantom. I bought this not knowing anything about it and I was very pleasantly surprised. And, Kat, I must say you are the first person I've come across who has also seen that series. Kick ass.

Vampire Hunter D was kickass. That's about the only anime I've ever watched, unless you count DBZ. And I don't.

Mass-market anime is teh evil.

And anime isn't a genra; it's a medium, and an under-appreciated, under-utilized one at that.

Some excellent titles, tho i've not bought anime in some time - with the exception of '3x3 Eyes', which Jay was dying to see again.

Half the time i actually prefer the original manga - Masamune Shirow is a brilliant writer/artist covering action, thriller, comedy and fantasy (it's a shame that 'Black Magic' didn't cover the original characters that frequented the Onimal).

[edit]I used to have shitloads of Zoid models as a kid; ZoidZilla, Kraark, Redhorn and tonnes of the smaller ones (the little scorpion one that was set up on the freezer; my mum shit herself when the wind-up motor kicked in and it scampered towards her :))

There really isn't any anime series I like besides DBZ. I enjoy the higher quality movies like Street Fighter: Alpha and AKIRA.

Still, overall I perfer independant art.

Never heard of any of those. I've been watching DB/DBZ for 4 years now, though.

most of the macross series(aka robotech)
most of dragonball and dragon ball z
gundam/80/83/war in the pocket/8th ms team/wing/endless waltz (mobile fighter g gundam is crap IMO, and I haven't seen any others)
la blue girl (good story...really!)
urotsokidoji: legend of the overfiend (the end of part four was such a cop-out though)
a couple of episodes of martian sucessor nadesico (funny shit)

like I said before, I've seen a ton. those listed are the only ones that stand out in my head.

I liked Dragonball,however i got sicked of those super saiya thing in dragonball Z.and if one don`t take it too serious,sailormoon is quite amusing to watch.

Still, overall I perfer independant art

I know where you can read a fan-translation of the later volumes online (but probably considered "bookwarez," so mail me if you really want the link). You can probably get the videos off Grokster. Beware: a world of difference exists between the manga and anime, so much that it's one of the two main flamewar topics in fandom.

Also, as for Takahashi manga, see if you can find Urasei Yatsura. I've seen the anime, and IMO that one is still way better than Ranma. And, at time, alot more too.

Akira's the only one i'm really familier with, and i think it's damn interesting!

I have episodes 1-whatever number the new kid Buu tapes are in VHS for DBZ. And some movies and specials and stuff. I don't really watch anime except for that...

Hentai is fodder for 15 year old perverts who can't get their hands on porn with their parents looking over their shoulders.
