your fave anime

Recommended Posts

Dragonball Z is my favorite, followed by "Those who hunt elves". Although I must admit I haven't watched a lot of anime listed above.

Seeing that this is my fav, I've got to give my little rant...

Watch the last two episodes of the series with an open mind. The project went through massive budget cuts, and that's all they were able to produce for the last two. The movies are technically the true last two episodes, but, the two budget-cut versions do fit in. They fit in during the 2nd movie, near the end when...well, you should be able to tell when. And because they actually fit in so well with the movies, they do end up being very important and quite good. But, don't dis the series because of the last two budget-cut ones!

Ok....I'm finished.

Best anime character...On Cowboy Bebop, you might remember a crazy guy by the name of "Mad Pierot" or something like that. I know I'm spelling the name wrong, but it was French. And that guy was the coolest. Even how he died was great...that was the best episode. :)

Mad Pierrot.

GYAHAHAHAHAA!!

/me kills everyone with a big smile on his face.

seriously though..

Excel Saga (Poor Menchi.)
Vampire Hunter D (any of 'em!)
Gatekeepers
Trigun
Cowboy Bebop
Outlaw Star
Dai-Guard
Macross (any)
Inu Yasha - (to elby: Episodes are still being made in Japan! yay!)
Great Teacher Onizuka (Give it a chance. Screw the Teacher Onizuka part. It's just Great.)
Vampire Hunter D (I feel it deserves a second mention)

Would like to see:
Chobits
Wild Arms
Love Hina
Brigadoon
Blue Gender
.hack //sign
Steel Angel Kurumi
and so on.

Other:
Wicked City: It had might as well be porn.
Dragonball Z: Lost it's charm. Though I like the movies.
Berserk: Hmmm. I might want to see more

I respect Toriyama as well. I think he did a great job with the Dragon Quest/Warrior monsters and characters although I've only played the games and haven't seen any of the anime.

I just can't stand Dragon Ball anymore other than every once in a while I play my DBZ Legends for Japanese Saturn. Some full length movie with some tree destroying everything was decent and Fusion Revival is amusing however the normal show is horrible. They show what little happened in the previous episode for 7 minutes, have a ton of huffing and someone thinking in their head for 9 minutes, have 1 minute of action - maybe one-two punches/kicks, a flurry with teleporting, and/or super blast, preview the next episode for 7 minutes. Insert some commercials in there. Having Goku training in a space pod for about ten episodes just killed it for me.

Point taken. It's bloody annoying how it takes until the month of sundays for the little things that play an important part in the story (such as example you gave). But i do get engrossed in DBZ when a good fight happens.

Any hentai.

Oh-No! The anime-killing stuff.

Serious though, i don't mind lecherous teenager comedies, panty shot anime or even anime with a shag or two, but Hentai kills anime imho (hence why i left gravitonshitty.com).

I do like the DragonballZ movies. If you want DBZ at it's greatest, then here's what you should take a look at:

DBZ Movie 5: Cooler's Revenge (On video/dvd in English)
Main plot is that Frieza's brother, Cooler, comes to Earth to avenge Frieza's death, and kicks alot of ass in the process. His last and final form is worth the whole movie in itself! Not to mentin the soundtrack consists of Disturbed, Finger Eleven, Seven Dust, Drowning Pool, and more.

DBZ Movie 6: Cooler Returns (On video/dvd in English)
Watch for yourself, it's awesomely wicked. Such an original plot, it's hard to believe that it's DBZ. Soundtrack is still awesome here too.

DBZ Movie 12: (Only availiable in Japanese w/ English subtitle)
What can I say? Super Saiyan Goku and Vegeta fuse into Gogita, all the previous enemies from DBZ (movies too, this is at the end of GT) are release onto Earth from hell, and the red devil Janenba he has to fight is awesome, plus they use computer graphics in this one too.

History of Trunks: (On video/dvd in English)
While it may not be what you want in the way of speedy action, it still has alot of fighting, and I bought it just for the fact that Androids 17 & 18 are in it. The ending is cool too, they totally beat the living hell out of Trunks, and you also get to see Gohan die, hehehe, you know, that whiney little kid you've hated since the beginning? Yep! He dies, along with Goku, Krillin, Piccolo, Vegeta, and a few others.

And Hitler running around in a tank yelling stuff in Japanese is so damn funny.

I'm watching Inuyasha right now. It's as good as I hoped it would be. Though it's not nearly as gory as the manga.

Excel Saga is nucking futs. I can't get enough of it. And I haven't seen near enough anime to get all the references and tributes they hide everywhere. Poor Menchi.

I just watched the first DVD of Noir, and I'm liking it. Very artsy, kinda dark assassin drama starring who's quickly turning into the poster girls for yuri. ^_^

Saber Marionette J is a favorite. Slayers is just fun. Airbats is cute for a military comedy/drama.

How could I forget Noir!?!??!

Noir is definitely one of my all time faves next to Inuyasha, Macross, and Trigun.

heheh thanks for the heads up, tho i did hear all about the budget cuts and that the show didnt really "end" it just kinda stopped.. so they made 2 lil movies (that are just 2 reallly looong eps) that kinda sum up the whole thing and give it an ending.. i got the 2 movies 1st but havent see them cos i know their "the end"

tho from what you say, it almost sounds like i should watch 1 movie before the last ep and then the 2nd movie after the last ep?? or just watch all the eps and then the 2 movies?

im good at putting things together in my head as far as I AM A MORON I AM A MORON I AM A MORON I AM A MORON I AM A MORON I AM A MORON I AM A MORON I AM A MORON s and stuff go so...

so, yeah, what order would you say one should watch Neon Genesis Evangelion in..?

I'd say watch all the episodes first, then watch the movies in the correct order (on the DVD it won't matter...just remember that there'll be credits half-way through, and that it isn't the end).

The last two episodes are still good, imo. Remind me of John Ashbery in a certain kind of way.

In evangelion, they screwed the last 2 episodes of the season royally, which is why I liked the movie ending alot better.

Berserk and X are great!

Yep the original series is wonderful. I watched it first in '92 in Spain (in Spanish too, weird)...and then DBZ of course. I waited some 8/9 years to see the conclusion of the Saiyan Saga when we eventually got it in the UK via Cartoon Network. Virtually nobody had heard of it here at the time but I knew its' success would be a forgone conclusion. Yep I have several of the movies in Japanese, harder more edgey graphics really kewl.
Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D, Wicked City, Akira and several of the others mentioned.

I was sad because Cartoon Network never showed any DB episodes after Krillin's death. That really left me on the edge of my seat. Not only that, but DB gets points for having instances where Goku actually loses.

Yes. And I always love the intros DB had for new enemies. You really hated them, the way they showed them (kind of like in the Rocky movies). And when Goku struggled against them and won, you really got some satisfaction out of it. The fight against Tien comes to mind...even if he did lose. :P A better example would be with Mercenary Tao.

Those two episodes, take place (like you said) in End of Evangelion (though I will not say when). For those of you who don't get what's going on, that is what the Instrumentality Project was trying to accomplish. No, they aren't just there for the hell of it, and yes, their role is pretty important in the big picture.

Come now, you left out the best movie of all: Movie 8, with Brolly. If only because Brolly was the coolest villan in the entire series, that movie is definately worth watching.

Oi. I'm not even going to get into a rant about how I feel about anime. Suffice it to say I have two great loves in life (besides eating, sleeping, and women), and they are games and anime.

i never really watched anime in recent years. in fact the only thing close to it would be heavy metal and heavy metal 2000, those were cool.

the game was also fun, but i am not sure if they qualify. after aall i am sure they are an american project.
