Janderson Posted April 28, 2006 Finally a monument to terrorism! To remind us of the great terrorist acts of the early Noughties! Oh and at the base there's a list of names or something. If I were a terrorist I'd let it stand. 0 Share this post Link to post
Technician Posted April 28, 2006 If they build a bigger tower supporting freedome, it a bigger target then the last two. 0 Share this post Link to post

VileSlay Posted April 29, 2006 as a new yorker I think that the freedom tower is shit. there has been a rash of these "futuristic" buildings going up all over the city, and, if bruce ratner has his way, in brooklyn to. the freedom tower design is gauche and pretentious. the name itself is ridiculous. at 1776 feet tall it is supposed to represent freedom, but that number only has significance to america. the twin towers were part of the WORLD trade center. the victims of the tragedy were multi-national. it was originally designed as a quite lopsided, swirling structure, to mimic the statue of liberty's pose (WTF?) and was actually deemed structurally unsafe in design and position against terrorist attacks on the ground (if you remember, the first attck on the towers was done by a van bomb in 1993) so it had to go back to the drawing board. since september 11th the only progress in the area had been the re-opening of the PATH train station and larry silverstein's tower, which is opening soon. the deutche back building, a toxic nightmare in which bone fragments are still being found in, is still standing as lifeless shell. fitterman hall is still scarred by the attack and remains closed. all in all there has been too much fighting to get anything done, between the families of the victims, the developers, and the politicians, you had the makings of a WWE match from the beginning. no one will ever be happy at what is gonna be put there. as far as it being a terrorist target, I doubt seriously that they will strike this soil again. al quaeda is doing to us exactly what we taught them to do to the former soviet union: drain your enemy economically through damn out entrenched warfare. as long as we are over in their lands, they are gonna try their damnedest to keep us there wasting money. right or wrong, rant over. I have no more to say on this subject 0 Share this post Link to post

Im fairly certain that if someone wanted to direct an attack on New York, they'd do it regardless of whether or not there's a newer, bigger building standing here. 0 Share this post Link to post
Pred@tor Posted April 29, 2006 Bigger and better? Why couldnt they just erect the tower of tyranny and treason? Both WTC buildings were both designed to take multiple hits from airliners. Even the designer is on record of saying this. 0 Share this post Link to post
dher5500 Posted April 30, 2006 The terrorists may see this as an insult and be inclined to stage not only attacks against this new building, but other American targets as well in retailiation. That being said though we cant be beat into submission by a bunch of islomic idiots just because we are afraid of what may happen. If this happens than the terrorists have won and the hundreds of people who sacrified their lives in Afganastan and Iraq trying to make sure this wouldn't happen again has died in vein. The best way to mourn the people who died on 9-11 is to move on with our lives and not live in terror. What will happen when people stop even wanting to go out because of fear of terrorist attack...? 0 Share this post Link to post

Dude, you're killing us with your sarcasm. I don't know how much more I can take before my side splits open and there's a mess of my internal organs all over the floor. 0 Share this post Link to post

Rotting Corpse Posted May 1, 2006 I keep trying to tell you peoople its not a building its a giant lazer turret. Since we cant find Osama Bin Laden, Bush is going to melt the middle east with it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lizardcommando Posted May 1, 2006 Yeah, I wish it was a giant lazer turret... Why don't we just build giant monument in place of the "freedom tower" of some random celebrity with their ass exposed and there are giant neon lights above it saying "Kiss my ass, Osama."? I personally think the best thing to do is build some kind of memorial site. Nothing too big or flashy, something like the Vietnam War memorial or the Korean War memorial. Why is it that we HAVE to have a bigass, pertruding, pile of metal? Why could it not be something small and practical like the Statue of Liberty? 0 Share this post Link to post
