Best game of all time in your opinion

What do you believe to be the best game of time (to date)?

Best games include the Mechwarrior 2 series, Deus Ex, System Shock 2, Goldeneye 64, Starcraft and Megamek. My opinion of course.

In my opinion, best equals most influential. I'd give that honor to either Doom or Pac-Man.

The list does not include the best game of all time.

Yeah, the choices are a bit limited.

I'd say my favorite ever is Exile III. Final Fantasy I and IV are close, as is Doom.

Best franchise ever would be Fallout or Baldur's Gate. Total War and Civilization are pretty good too.

Edit: As for other best games ever that stand alone from their serieses, there is also Deus Ex, Doom, Quake 2, Final Fantasy 6, and Morrowind. I'm also liking Neverwinter Nights after just playing it for the first time a couple weeks ago. The engine is killer and I'm doing more editing with it than any game since Doom or DN3D.

Super Metroid, that is all.

Deus Ex changed my life.

Morrowind wasn't bad either.

Although there's quite a few great games around (Fallouts, Deus Ex, etc), only Doom can keep me still playing it.

I can't just boil it down to one game...

Oh man...for me, that's a hard tie between DDR 5th Mix, The Ultimate Doom, Robotron 2084, Super Metroid, and Out of This World/Another World.

Lame poll; not nearly enough choices. My favourites include Doom (obviously), Dungeon Keeper, Ultima Underworld, the Elder Scrolls (Morrowind primarily), System Shock, Dungeon Master and Command & Conquer (pre-Generals).

(Yeah, I'm not a console player, aside form the fact I spent days on "Super Metroid")

Doom and Starcraft are tied for the lead, but Doom is a FPS, while Starcraft's a RTS, different but similar in a few ways, the environment and the fast gameplay.
