Which is funny you should say that, because the lyrics I can make out appear to directly reference In This Twilight and Zero Sum from Year Zero and thus would be set about 15 years in the future, and as a result seems more of a requiem for the YZ story than an honest piece.

I don't know if I heard this correctly or not, but isn't The Slip supposed to be the follow-up to Year Zero?

So I gave it a listen...

It sounded like basic popular hard rock, just with more distorted guitars and keyboards. Meh.

Did you listen to the second half of this album?

I'm not sure why With Teeth is so poorly regarded, except maybe that it's underwhelming as a follow-up to a well-regarded massive double-album, being understandably much smaller in scope. A few unpleasant singles aside, it's a strong album, with a lot of variety and some great tracks. "All the Love in the World", "The Collector", "You Know Who You Are", "Only", Getting Smaller", "Sunspots", "The Line Begins to Blur", and "Right Where It Belongs" are all stand-out tracks, and even the lesser tracks are mostly still pretty good. I mean, if this is the band's worst album, that says very good things about the band.

Yeah, and that's still pretty mediocre.

Hmm, many years ago I posted complaining about weenies constantly going on about NIN. I think this was in the run-up to doom3 when he was still connected as an SFX guy.

Anyway since then I developed a NIN obsession. Ho hum.

Let it be know that I declare the slip the best NIN album evar.

This is a rumour.

I think Trent leaving the Doom 3 project my biggest disappointment. This sound effects were head over heals better then the generic library of sounds that's on the id SFX rendition.

I was surprised by its unpopularity too. With Teeth is one of my favorite Nine Inch Nails albums, maybe top 3.

I'm glad I only downloaded the mp3 version. This album is horrible.

I've been a NIN fan for over 10 years and I must say "The Slip sucks...big ones".
Just as well it's free, because it would have pissed me off to have paid money for this... thing.

Eh, I'll still fork over the money for the actual CD when it comes out, since I'm a both a completist and archivist at heart. It's the same reason why I went out of my way to try and find a new or like new copy (which I found the former of a few years ago, miraculously) of Ministry's With Sympathy, regardless of just how horrible it was.
