O.K I am pissed off

Tuesday, before I went to bed, my mom went up to me and said that I can't go to school because of a Bomb Threat. I was somewhat o.k with that. The next day, at the same fucking time as last, my mom comes to report to me and says that there's another bomb threat. So now I am at home for the 2nd time this week.

This is bad for me for several reasons.
1. I'm a freshman (almost sophmore). I was suposed to take the remaining half of my Core-40 today. I can't because some doucheybag threatened to bomb my school.
2. The same thing happened to my friend. He lives in Michigan while I live in Indiana.

The only good thing: I get to stay home, finish homework, and check Doomworld 'till my fingers fall off.

You've got every right to complain about a bomb threat but I really don't see why your arguing that your missing out on your class. Your teacher hopefully isnt an ass and would clearly understand that everybody has lost 2 full days of class and give everybody some time to catch up. I also don't see the reason why staying home is considered a bad thing as you probably could get away with any work you missed out on. Either way, yes bomb threats suck. Last year when I was a senior in H.S some kids used to call bomb threats every monday's and fridays at 11:00 and cause us to be stuck out in the field. Lucky for me I was part of the early release program and got out at 10:30 :P

You could learn more by spending an hour on Wikipedia than spending a day at a public school, so it's not like you're missing out on much.

At least you didn't end up sitting outside in the sweltering heat for hours along with everyone else in the entire school because somebody called in a bomb threat in the middle of class. That was a fun day.

Two questions:

Has a phoned-in bomb threat for a school ever turned out to be real?

Have actual school shootings ever been preceded by a phone call warning about them?

If the answers are both no, and I imagine they might be, I say just ignore all so-called bomb threats forever.

the fact of the matter is that schools are responsible for every students safety. thats why most high schools have security that breaks up fights. therefore, ignoring any phoned in threat because it seems fake puts the entire school staff and students at risk, which could be held accountable for the entire school district. this is also the reason schools will close when there is a forecast of snow.

I liked getting time off school. Sadly we never had a bomb threat once.

I go to Westside in Omaha NE, and we had a bomb threat not too long ago.

It was like a normal day...we did nothing and jerked around the entire day. And I stayed at school.

I'm all for protecting the safety of students.

But, maybe school bomb threats just aren't a danger to anybody.

Oh that sucks.

I remember when I was a Junior in High School when a group of kids threatened to kill the Home Ec. Teacher (yeah, that doesn't really make much sense). The whole school went into lockdown the whole day. The local SWAT team came in full force looking for the kids. It turned out that they were across the street in an apartment where one of them lived. It also turned out that this whole thing they pulled off was their definition of a "prank".

Thankfully for me, I was in my Computer Graphics class so I was working on one of my Flash movies. It wasn't a very boring day for me. :)

Hahaha, my school had a bomb threat once, and nobody knew until the next day because the cunts that make up the administration decided not to release everyone from the school.

We had a bomb threat phone-in during class, were lined up out in the oval, and then the Principal marched down and accused us all of being terrorists for not wearing correct school ties.

Yeah, if you want your brain full of pop culture. I don't rely on Wikipedia to learn, as textbooks are better resources, especially because many of its scientific articles are sub par. I do agree that a lot of its articles can provide good foundations for learning, but anyone who uses it exclusively is just wrong. It's a supplement, and should be used as such. The fact that professors are starting to accept it more as a source for classes really annoys the hell out of me.

If Wikipedia give you the truth to lick God with your fantastics knowledges isn't what is meaned.
I've less learned at school than in internet or books (and I give you a point for this) anyway...

I can't think of one situation during my high school run where a bomb threat would have ruined my day, so I kind of wish there was at least one.

It's only ever happend ONCE at college that there was a bomb threat. Lo and Behold, it happened during the first day of finals in the same building I was supposed to take one of mine. They didn't tell us it was a bomb threat until probably two hours latera, once they had begun searching the building (which = a load of shit). A bomb threat can be genuine, but 90% are just bullshit for the reason of avoiding something really.

More threatening than that was the DC sniper back when I was in highschool. THAT, on the other hand, involved the trakc team running thru school halls and knocking down people in the process

I never remember bomb threats in school. I remember people threatening to shoot up the school though. All the preps would skip class that day and miss tests. Nothing ever happened. I also remember someone robbing the local porn megastore then fleeing towards the school. It was like 5 minutes before we were going to be let out, then they put the school on lockdown for a half hour...so we were being held there for extra long. As an added bonus, there was a 6.8 magnitude earthquake earlier that day and they didn't decide to cancel school after it. So that was one day full of excitement.

I remember near the beginning of my Freshmen year, my HS had a bomb threat reportedly because someone was talking about counter-strike. :P
We had two consecutive bomb threats the next two days much to the frustration of the staff.
I also remember during my 6th grade year we had a bomb threat that got the entire school evacuated and everyone sent home early, and that just scratches the surface of what we've had at my school district.

The most "exiting" emergency we ever had at my school was someone pulled the fire alarm when there wasn't a fire.

Jeez, I didn't realize these pointless bomb threats were so common. The biggest emergency that ever happened in my high school was when a fire extinguisher was sprayed into a few classes as part of a "grad run" tradition. The school day ended a couple hours early due to poor air quality.

Also, it seems that my public high school education was better than average. My first-year calculus university courses didn't tell me anything that hadn't been taught to me in high school, and my university english was almost a step backward. My standard grade twelve chemistry class included a unit on quantum mechanics.

You all need to move to Canada. It's better.

I'm amazed.

Where I come from students would be crazy to pull a stunt like that. Our teachers would go Texas Chainsaw Massacre on our asses. High School and College.
