Then I'm really sure that you don't know what Hard Rock means.

Actually if you go to a general retail store to buy cd's and look for that category, he's pretty spot on.

Yeah, but they also often stick bands like Disturbed in the metal section. CD stores aren't really that accurate. :P

At most of the "general retail stores" down here, there are only three sections: Rock/Pop (which really means popular music; I could go on all day with how much this annoys me), Country and Latino. Sometimes I really hate living in Texas.

In no particular order:

Dire Straits
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Pantera
Slayer
ZZ Top
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Megadeth
Emperor
Albert King
Buddy Guy
Rev. Horton Heat
Heart
Credence Clearwater Revival
Tool
The Meteors
Nekromantix

I could keep going. My music tastes seem to go all over the place. I love Metal, Rock 'n Roll, Blues, Funk and Psychobilly.

White Zombie

AC/DC

I hate:
Any modern day "Disney pop" (i.e. Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, etc). [/B]

The ones that aren't striked out, I like so far (except of course the Disney ones). Some of them I either grew out of or never heard.

Also like:
Gamma Ray
Pantera
Slayer
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Megadeth
Powerman 5000
System of a Down
Some electronic music

Hate:
Rap, Hip-Hop, anything that stupid niggers African-Americans/Wiggers listen to these days.

Any metal that sounds like some idiot's just yelling/screaming/growling into a microphone while some five year old randomly bangs on drums.

FUCKING RICK ASTLEY! I'M SO FUCKING SICK OF RICKROLLING!!!!!!

Wait.. Rick-rolling is still a "thing"?

I hate when people generalize metal as "screamy shit". Do you really think it's all random banging and hammering? If I met the 5 year old who could pull off some of the shit I hear on some tech death records, I'd probably shit myself.

shit

I don't have many albums, so I just listen to Burn Season and Mudvayne

I think they're hard rock, but I'm not good with defining music genres.

Haha... the sole representative of Doomworld's hip-hop community?

Like:
Digable Planets
Outkast
Wu-Tang Clan
Charles Mingus
Tom Waits
Slayer
Minor Threat
Infest
The Who
The Pogues
Brian Eno
David Bowie
Public Enemy
Metallica (pre-black album)
John Coltrane
Herbie Hancock
Funkadelic
A Tribe Called Quest
Organized Konfusion
Smashing Pumpkins
Beastie Boys
The Stooges
Curtis Mayfield
Career Suicide

Hey look, I like hip-hop and am not a wigger! There are a good deal of us. Don't let the radio-bumpers represent the entire picture for you. Hip-hop isn't all shiny-suit/gettin' crunk dirty south music. That would be like me seeing Limp Bizkit as representative of the whole metal community or NOFX/Green Day/Anti-Flag as representative of the punk community. No doubt that would be incredibly stupid. Most genres have depth... Consider that next time you dismiss one with a snap of your fingers.

Except smooth jazz... yeah, definitely get rid of smooth jazz.

Autopsy
Discharge
NOFX
pre reunion Suffocation
Skitsystem
Bad Brains
Demolition Hammer
Darkthrone
Mysto Dysto
Mox Nix
Avskum
Repugnant
Corrupted
Turbonegro

the list goes on, but I`d rather list albums than bands. Sooooooooooooooo many bands released some great albums (very often debut albums), but then they startd to suck, like Sepultura, Death, Malevolent Creation, Diabolic, bla bla bla

Pink Floyd
The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Rolling Stones
Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Flaming Lips
David Bowie
Gorillaz

There are really a lot of other bands I like, and even love, but these are my absolute favorite, in a class of their own.

In no particular order:

- Guns N' Roses
- Porcupine Tree
- The Gathering
- Within Temptation
- Metallica
- Tool
- System of a Down (the only band that survives from my teen years)
- Los Prisioneros
- Soda Stereo
- Chancho en Piedra

Non-rock:

I've linked a song for the bands that won't ring any bells here, should anyone wish to know what i'm talking about

I'm not going to post a huge list, just one I'm enjoying which is Skillet. Particularly in the later years.

Ninja Edit: It felt rather odd posting about Skillet (which Im assuming most haven't heard of), only to see someone mentioning it early. Rather random O_o.

I would not call any of these hard rock in the slightest. Given the last two in your list, Im assuming you are Christian? You might enjoy these guys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbwY9yDL8WQ
