I got my gameboy color at a yard sale for $10 years ago. Its yellow and has the pokemon logo on it. I wonder if it's worth anything being its a pokemonish thing.

Is the Pokemon logo just a sticker or was it put on there by Nintendo? You'll have to Google it to see if it's worth anything.

I've seen gameboys like that. The A and B buttons are Red and Green right?

I have that gameboy color. It was the special Pokemon Yellow edition gameboy with pikachu on it, right?

Posting to say that I just had this crazy idea of taking apart my GameBoy, spray-painting the front body (where the buttons are) red and the back body (where the battery pack is) blue, and putting it back together.

When I got my Gameboy Colour, I had the choice between a GBA, or a GBC with some games. I probably should have gotten the GBA, as I'd later bust my ass getting funds for one, but on the other hand, Zelda Oracle of Seasons was an utterly amazing game for my new handheld.

There were five different yellow GBCs:

- One was released in Japan only (Pokemon Center limited edition), I'm not sure of the value of these.
- One was in PAL countries only with a light-up Pikachu (Pikachu limited edition), one possibly just in America with a Pokeball power light (Pokemon limited edition), these two are worth about double the price of a normal GBC.
- One in Australia which was just plain yellow (Yellow edition) and a Tommy Hilfiger-branded yellow one, these are worth the same as any other GBC.

Personally I think the coolest GBCs are the clear ones (transparent clear and transparent purple) so you can see the inside bits. The transparent ones are common, the purple ones are Japan-only so they can fetch double or triple normal GBC price.

I also have more customization ideas:
White buttons, black body, bright red Rammstein "R+" in the center and on the back

Gray buttons, black body, Nine Inch Nails logo in the center and on the back

Orange Buttons, red body, Doom logo in the center and on the back

Black buttons and body, Ninja star in the center and on the back

Light blue buttons, black body, "Jolly Roger" skull and crossbones in the center (probably going to go with my ninja one if I get another one for some reason)

@SuperJamie: There was also a yellow GBC on the main production line, it's not all exclusive yellow GBC's.

Custom-making a chrome body for it.

The pokeball power light came out in NZ, I played on one and was all amazed at how colourful my Shadowgate was on it

Rad ideas! Imagine if it was possible do a good quality moulded run of these.

I could definitely be wrong about some of the above things, especially release territories. I'm just relating info I've read elsewhere on the internet :)

Yeah, I have transparent purple myself, and it was very common over here.

It was more common than the white one here, probably because "purple is uncool and girly" to a lot of NZers.

I also have one of those, but it was my sister's. Never realized my gameboy collection was worth so much!

I had the translucent purple one too. Except on the label it was called "Atomic Purple" which sounded like an extra special color, and I wouldn't have gotten it if I had known "Atomic Purple" meant "The same translucent purple gameboy everyone else has"

I'm pretty sure I knew someone with the clear purple one. I never got a Color, but I have a transparent "Play It Loud" series Game Boy and a clear pink GBA (it used to belong to a female friend of mine). I also have an SP and a DS.
