There's regulating a business and there's making it illegal. America is full of places who decide things like gambling, drinking, strip clubs, porn, gay sex, drugs, etc. are just plain illegal because they're not popular (or sometimes because they're too popular). This is just wrong. I just refuse to agree with all those people who think the laws of a state should reflect its dominant culture.
This, of course, is also common everywhere else, and indeed usually involves worse examples than you're even likely to find in America. That's one of the awesome things about America. It remains one of the most free places. I still don't get the problem so many places there have with gambling or drinking. Just weird that is. We have a few places here that outlaw gambling. They suck.
