Isn't Britain the country where you can get arrested for taking pictures of buildings?

You also need a petition to peacefully protest near certain areas of the city. If that isnt irony, I dont know what is.
To be fair, they are all in it together, US, UK etc...
Peter Mandelson, the real guru behind 'New Labour', was an understudy to the Clinton PR people, and both Clinton and Blair have basically been carbon copies of one another in terms of having non-populist, pro-big money policies, contrary to what both parties have been about in recent history. Obama carries on this tradition, much like Brown. There is no real difference (when in comes to policies that mean something) between 'left' vs 'right' in mainstream politics anymore.

Acordingly Republicans actually used to be truly conservative. Much like New Labour/Democrats have maringalized true leftists (Kucinich), the republicans have marginalized true conservatives like Ron Paul

To sum up this statement:
Politicians marginalize truth.

Destroy what freedoms? We still have freedom of speech, religion, press, and all that. I've openly admitted to being Atheist several times and the FBI's not following me around on suspicion that I'm going to steal something or kill someone. Since the Bush Administration, my dad's had a hand gun and hunting rifle and nothing was confiscated in our home.

Well, we haven't lost any of our major freedoms yet (not fully anyway), but we now have to go through full-body scanners to board a plane (which basically takes a picture of you without clothes), law enforcement agencies can now legally wiretap anyone without warrents, habeus corpus has been suspended (as snakes pointed out), and police are needing warrants to do anything less and less. Still, these little steps are slowly eroding our constitution.

And did anyone ever hear of Bush or Obama trying to do such things?

That's my point. I said it's at least 10x worse in those other countries than it is here.

That's a euphemism for "being a drunken knife-waving thug". They don't bang people up for wearing black and not talking on suspicion that they might do a school shooting.

Well I don't mean just asbos, but other more innocuous instances. I don't have any examples on hand, but it seems like a week doesn't go by without one or two articles on Fark from England that go something like "Old Man Yells at Kids on Lawn; Gets Hauled to Jail for Questioning". That sort of thing.

Dammit, I was hoping to move to Iceland, with Australia being my backup. Looks like I'll have to look into New Zealand as my plan B.

I don't think moving to Iceland would be a good idea right now (I live there). After the whole Icesave bullshit where the bankers betrayed us and the British stomped on our heads our economy is fucked.

Wait a few years before deciding to do anything.

The US has less government centralization and control, but as a result you're left more in the hands of big private enterprise, which makes much of the rules. This happens here in South America too, and in some senses it's worse because much of that business represents interests that are (more) foreign to us. Europeans and the commonwealth may have stricter governments, which may mean less freedoms in some respects, but the trade-off is an emphasis on truer or better freedom. Their health care and education systems are examples of how this takes effect.

^^What he said

Give me control of a nation's money supply and I care not who makes the laws.
-Mayer Amschel Rothschild

I care not what puppet is placed on the throne of England to rule the Empire, The man that controls Britain's money supply controls the British Empire. And I control the money supply.
-Baron Nathan Mayer Rothschild

In my "opinion" I think every nation on this planet is already past the event horizon.
