Of the three generations I liked gold/silver cause it had tons of stuff to do, the ui and types were good and manageable, and the new pokemon added more than confused. Pearl was less interesting and the pokemon stranger, although it's one that I actually used a mismagius (my current fave pokemon. Pain split and pure ghost ftw ;). Having the bottom screen for various useful (well some, only 2-3 of the 10 screens you had to scroll sequentially through were useful) apps was nice.
