TWSynth, Timidity++

Does anybody here know how to configure Timidity as a primary Midi output device? TWSynth claims to have this sort of functionality, but I'm a bit intimidated by the "Engrish"-ness of the documentation, the lack of support, and the fact that development on the project ended years ago.

I just thought that some of you Doomers would have experience setting up Midi-related software.

Is there a viable way for a Vista user to have Soundfont playback with all of their favorite games?
Is this the wrong place to ask?

This page was linked recently. It doesn't use TiMidity, but works fine on Vista/7.
