Unsurprisingly EA successfully rapes the final installment of Command Conquer 4. DRM baaawing aside, gameplay gets drastically altered into something that no longer resembles Command and Conquer. They attempt to make the most awesome twist of a storyline only to end up alienating fans of the series.

Now I know to avoid any more Command & Conquer games now..

Thanks for screwing over Westwood back in the day!

Whatever, if you just want to play the same game over again, do that.

The game seems to ripoff all of the previous major RTS releases, from Dawn of War 2 to Supreme Commander.

Kane and nostalgia are the only things keeping this franchise aloft.

100% agree.

Not having played C&C4 I can't say much about it, but I can say the cover art for the case sure is nice looking.

This game is yet another victim of milking a good name for Ca$h. So much of it going on lately, sometimes its best to leave things on a high. Doom 3 was a good game, not a great game, but had it been given a different name how would it have fared? Terminator anyone? Aliens vs Predator? Going off topic, but the video game to movie trend seems to be on the up... a worrying trend?

New MK. How sad.
Halo will probably turn out to be some Avatar ripoff.
Warcraft? Sam Raimi? I'm interested.
Tekken with Tagawa? Can't be worse than Dead Or Alive with Roberts.
I'm waiting for Predators, the cast looks promising. If it turns out to be crap, I'm sure at least watching Brody acting the tough guy will be hilarious.

I liked the Far Cry movie.

The last C&C game I played was the first Red Alert.

The last C&C game I really liked was Generals. It wasn't even really C&C, but it was a good game. The newer ones just suck more. C&C 3 was ok, but with nasty DRM, and RA3 was mostly garbage.

uhhhhhhh

People still care about that 90's series that's only claim to fame seemed to be that it was on consoles whilst the far superior TA wasn't?

The skirmishes all ended up the same way for me anyway - locate enemy construction yard, build 12 Migs, bomb construction yard, bomb any power stations you found while scouting too. Waltz in with a tank rush.

Mind you TA's skirmishes with the default AI were laughable but you could download 'tougher' ones that would attempt to win simply by covering the whole minimap with thier colour, those battles were entertaining.

Some of the newer AIs take it slightly further by being map specific. At least then you won't get a seaworld ai trying to use an all land map. Having a nuke capable AI was interesting, but it wasn't smart enough to put them to good use (one anti nuke silo and you would be safe, even with ten AIs - would never work with human players).

Multiplayer has always been TAs strength - having more than 2 players usually results in more than a few hours of enjoyment (having just played such a game with my brothers).

Only C&C games I liked were C&C Alert 1 & 2.

Jeez, didn't C&C3 just come out? I haven't even played that yet. Oh well, back to UAC Ultra.

TA is OK...but to judge a game by it's skirmish mode? C&C was all about the multiplayer, man. And the awesome FMVs.

The first 2 C&Cs were terrific, that's hard to counterargue, but I still believe that TA was a little bit better. Both had excellent multiplayer modes. (It just depended on whom you played against.)

Totally agree, Generals imo is by far the best game in the series, coupled with the fact that it has some pretty stirling mods. Thing I enjoyed most with Generals is the base building is in no way restrictive, you can building anything you like anywhere you like. A sequel to this game is overdue (i would have expected one before C&C4, but meh).

I bought RA3 on Steam, and I have to say its certainly not a bad game, but its certainly not that fun to play either. I tend not to play these games for any single player value either, although I do find that I tend to use basic units more effectively.

One gripe I do have is that most online play consists of nothing but rushes, which yes, rushing can be fun, but it does get kinda dull.

So I'm playing Tiberian Sun now, and it's boring as hell.

It's as if time had stopped for Westwood for the 5 years between the first C&C and this. TA and Starcraft didn't come out, unit waypoint systems didn't become standard (the one TS uses is a joke), etc.

If I weren't a Starcraft addict already, playing this back then would've made me one.

You have to when you have the crappest internet connection in the world.

I have a good one now but have lost interest in virtually all videogames, so i stick with what i knew.

I've always felt that the series should have been taken in a different direction years ago. I have no problem with them changing up the formula. It's just too bad they decided to lift a bunch of ideas from other popular strategy games without even trying to make it their own in the process.
