Activist put death toll in central Syrian region at over 90, many women and children

Whether it's NATO death squads causing these atrocities or if it's the Assad regime that's behind this, the Syrian population is going through Hell right now and certain world powers should step up and demand that all of it stops immediately.

It's a double-edged weapon. The camps in Pakistan that trained tens of thousands of mujahideen to fight the Russians also turned out tens of thousands of taliban militants. America's interests in the region are best served by supporting secular leaders who'll suppress the religious hotheads, which isn't so easy to do since (unlike Christianity) Islam apparently lacks the rigid hierarchy which is required to impose dogma from the top down.

The only source for that phrase that I'm familiar with comes from the historian based in Washington D.C., Webster Tarpley, who appears regularly on PressTV.

That phrase is pretty racist as it blames Muslims of their religion for what the US may do to them.
I'd argue my statement was bigoted, as we're the same race as the Muslim majority in most respects.

I'm not a racist, I'm a bigot, dammit! But I did generalize too much in my statement.

As much as Islamic extremists have given America a black-eye, it has ensured that the US has perpetual reason to polices occupy them. Again, America exploited Islamic extremists to police, but now they have become targets; all-in-all it keeps the gears moving.

This I can agree with. Islam really does have a mob-rule mentality. Even when Muslim people revolt and take down corrupt military leaders, it seems a just as corrupt religious dictatorship takes their place. I haven't read too many good things about Egypt becoming a more liberal, secular Islamic society - quite the opposite, in fact.

I feel Evangelical Christians, too, have this group mentality when compared to their Catholic, Protestant, Anglican, etc. counter parts.

I prefer using "racist" in general for cultural stereotyping because culture is deeply wound with genetics, and racial stereotypes are cultural constructions. Or else only racialist racism is racism, the one where the racist believes there are distinct races. That would give too much credit to racialist ideology and racial stereotyping has existed since the dawn of history, at least, well before Hitler and other idiots spread their half-assed ideas.

Also, when we think of racism we think of slavery or the Holocaust, while a bigot can mean anything from someone who practiced those to someone who merely has a generally bad social attitude toward strangers. Bigots are racist when their behavior is ugly, just like an unacceptable authoritarian person is a fascist.

Meh - as historians go, Tarpley makes a great conspiracy theorist.

Yep, basically MRB_Doom is grabbing a bunch of sensationalist news (especially sabre rattling) articles and try to "connect them" to his insane conspiracy theories which is their common behavior pattern.

Point is, I see "WWIII" especially a Nuclear War being very unlikely. Actually the existence of Nuclear Weapons is the main reason why we haven't had a High Yard shit storm for a long time.

So if a war with Iran really does happen, I predict it's going to be a another proxy war.

Calling me insane is slanderous and I will not go down to that low life level of discussion when it comes to news OR conspiracy theories.

I guess I'm equally insane by writing about the persecution of members of the Bahá'í Faith in Iran too?

I agree that the articles that I link to ARE sensationalist and should be treated with extreme skepticism. Especially when it comes from the Iranians.

I would rather not find out if a U.S. led attack on Iran's nuclear facilities would be a proxy war, given the fact that the Islamic Republic has stated repeatedly that they will defend themselves. Iran is no Iraq.

I'm skeptical that the "negotiations" are anything other than a stalling tactic anyway. Braindead senators trying to make it a bigger farce than it already is would be inconsequential. The long game is to pin Iran into a corner and hammer them with sanctions in the hope that they break. They want regime change. There's no concession Iran can make that would actually satisfy Israel and therefore the US. It's a sham.

Russia Sends More Advanced Missiles to Aid Assad in Syria

S-300's are pretty good sh*t. Can't see how the U.S. and NATO would pull off an intervention in Syria when Assad has those kinds of rockets.

Can you please stop bumping this thread? This hypothetical WW3 is not going to happen and it only exists in the minds of Doomwingnutters.

Besides this entire thing about "WWIII will start in the Middle East" is bunch of biblical bullshit that it can be traced back to (something to do with a biblical passage that says "The Final Battle will start in Mount Zion/Syria" or something like that) which shows that we live a deeply predominated Abrahamic especially Christian society that constantly fears that the Apocalypse should happen at any day which is nothing more than a bunch of unhealthy fear mongering.

Also this thread was only "relevant" last year ago anyways.

Holy shit! A thread for a possible World War 3? No, its never gonna happen and if it does then we are all screwed. North Korea could get involved and start throwing nuclear bombs at all of us, especially you America.

Saying it's never going to happen is silly. Nobody can predict the future. It may even happen so far in the future that most people involved don't realize it is WWIII.

Interesting. Turkey considered it a casius belli if Greece or Cyprus deployed any of their own within range of the tiniest bit of Turkish territory.

Funny since the DPRK doesn't have a delivery system capable such range let alone being accurate. I'm not even sure if they have the capability to hit japan with such a weapon. Also, even their conventional artillery doesn't have the range to hit Seoul proper, though it's believed they can reach the northern-most suburbs.

Latest lapse raises question about morale crisis among US nuclear missile launch officers

17 of them? Doesn't sound that reassuring. Didn't the U.S. nuclear war plans get hacked last year?

No problem. Program a computer to push the buttons, play some wargames (to learn to think strategically) and give it a degree of launch autonomy, just in case the White House is nuked before the order to launch can be given. Problem solved!

White House: Syria crosses 'red line' with use of chemical weapons on its people

Red line? This mess is gonna get a whole lot worse if the U.S. and NATO try to impose a no-fly zone over Syria. Expect hard resistance with Russian assistance.

fuck obama for repeating the bush WMD lie. russians won't budge this time, they've been played for fools in case of libya and they have a naval base in syria, so they have too much to lose. intervention won't gonna happen no matter how frenchies and brits cry (they need a good war to cover up their domestic problems).

also the nato allies are so hypocritical they'll be buying russian weapons to give to the rebels. they can't have the jihadists murdering civilians (and americans and europeans later) live on tv with good ol' m16s. bah, after a decade of war against terror and al-qaeda, yanks are back to arming it.

I would wish someone would Post-Hell this thread and loser MRB_Doom (as Doomworld does with conspiracy theories and believers like 9/11 truthers which this thread should fall under equal treatment) for keep bumping it just to instill fear mongering while it should have died long ago.

This hypothetical WWIII scenario is not going to happen no matter what you think and small regional conflicts aren't going to start it as shown in the past (Senkaku islands, Libya, etc.,). Get over it.

Of course one thing I do notice from this thread that it has a unhealthy focus/obsession with the Middle East...People believing in Biblical Prophecies much?

No, Nightmare Doom. WWIII is the small regional conflicts.
And then the small regional conflicts were WWIII.

Russia isn't exactly innocent here. If they are selling arms to NATO knowing they are going to end up in the hands of the so called rebels in Syria, they are just as guilty as the US and other Nato nations.

that is true, but i have to admit i don't know the details - it's just been speculated that the syrian rebels (and therefore islamists and therefore al-qaeda) will be armed with russian weapons to make it less of a PR nightmare when civilians get massacred by the very same rebels. it'd be either russian surplus of their older weaponry, or the goods already circulating the market. don't expect state of the art technology to appear in syria.

and yeah, russia is willing to sell to whoever dishes out the moneys, so them being a safety guard against an alliance intervention that'd support one of two bad sides is definitely ironic. what a world of hypocrites all around.
