LOL, seriously? "Dark ages"? We may be handicapped by technology, but we live in a era of comfort, convenience leisure and good health that completely surpasses any previous era of history. Dark ages my foot.

Sure, technology has advanced some, but the human condition itself is still unchanged. Some random dude from a few centuries or millenia ago has the same basic character flaws as some random dude from today. The ego is what allows them to persist, as you cannot fix the flaws you're not willing to acknowledge. And the mind is very efficient at blaming fuckups on others, and taking credit for succcess (there are very strong, irresistible emotional events that happen when the ego is doing this, just observe yourself and you'll see it).

In fact, instead of trying to help correct this, we have devious people exploiting it for their own gain (advertisers, politicians, etc.) The ego is like a back-door root shell to your mind, via your emotions.

And who knows, maybe I'm wrong. But that's extremely unlikely because I'm always right.

Actually I think ratings would soar if we replaced the water agenda with you making a thoughtful post.

Finally, weren't comics supposed to be funny? To me, "comic" means "funny".

Did you read the last panel?

I guess so. My lack of sense of subtle humour may not help.

It's not really that creative in terms of delivery. I suppose the message is alright, but really, it's not like it hasn't been done before. While I can appreciate the comic for what it is, I don't understand the reason for posting it. Was it supposed to make us inspired to get off the internet and go to the real world or something?

I will deliberately take a contrary position just for the sake of writing incredibly long arguments

So the problem with humans is that they're still humans? Is that something that needs to be fixed? If someone pulled it off, how would that make the world a "utopia?"

Yes, the problem with humans is they're still humans. They care about local, short-term goals rather than civilization building and technology. This is a terrible flaw. A culture's longevity is entirely dependent on its technology because planets and stars change and die.

Assuming the human condition has never changed is naive and stupid. The beginnings of culture and civilization didn't even happen with our species. To assume those men had the same minds would just be wrong. They were similar, but different. This applies even within cultures of the last few thousand years. Urban societies purged many of their rogues and loose cannons, the Jews unwittingly bred themselves to be clever at numbers to fit into the only prosperous niche Europeans would allow them, etc. Evolution continues, even if it isn't normally on a scale that's easy to appreciate.

If we ever create a utopia it will be something not quite human or more than human that populates it. Humans are too stupid.

I love how I just read this sentence while listening to Daft Punk's "Human After All". :P

Well it depends on who defines "utopia". It's hardly an objective term.

Everything that happens in this universe is just a part of going from an infinitely small point to a very large expanse with no energy. I don't see how anything in-between can be "perfect".

a feelgood story for go-getters, yay! it seems to me like a bunch of shallow, obvious ideas so people can promote tunnel vision as a life philosophy. i knew the answers to all the set-ups masked as questions by the idiot sidekicks before i read them, it's that plain.

but it might just be my problem with subscribing to simplistic ideologies, because i like researching all the "ifs and buts".
