I kind of think of socialism as more like a mother saying... you could be a comedian, but you should be a respectable doctor.

With socialism... does everyone get paid the same or do they just assign you a job with a wage according to the job? Is the assignment based on your skills like if you have a high IQ you'll be a doctor or if you have mad debate skills you'll be a lawyer or is it like... you coal miner, you are doctor now. You with high IQ... you'll work in the coal mine.

I also just think of wasted potential a lot of Americans have. Smart people with no drive in their life. Lazy people that could be corrected if given a job. Corporate tyrany gone unchecked thanks to capitalism.

Maybe some countries do socialism because they don't have any excess and want everyone to live by giving everyone equal amounts.

Marxist governments have always claimed to be anti-capitalism yet they always contradict themselves, please do bother, I love seeing the programmed drones point of views.

If they're capitalist, then they obviously aren't Marxist. That's pretty simple to understand.

Anyway, I don't even know what the definition of socialism is anymore since its been confused with communism so many times I don't even know anymore

I think the ideal society would be a democracy with high taxes but free social benefits (free healthcare, free education, plentiful public transportation) and open capitalism, but with heavy restrictions against monopolies and environmental damage. Also, all infrastructure should be government-controlled. So I guess I'm a socialist. I consider myself a democratic socialist, or green party. Countries like Sweden and Germany seem to have gotten things pretty right.

If you're referring to the path "communist" China is heading down, that's not so much Marxism as pragmatism.
