"Let's Play" vids are only as good as the person who makes them. Very few people out there on Youtube(or anywhere else for that matter) can manage to remain entertaining for as long as it takes to get through the game they've chosen to play.

I'm sure there are far less exciting material clogging youtube, but they don't last 12 - 40+ hours for some games like Final Fantasy 8.

My biggest pet peeve is finding let's plays when I'm not looking for them. When I want to see some gameplay footage of a game and I keep getting directed to videos where the first minute and a half are spent saying hi to everyone and requesting that I subscribe while sitting at the main menu.

I'd be slightly biased on the subject because I occasionally record LP's myself - though with the exception of Executor's Wolfenstein Sextilogy, they don't tend to last that long. I'm primarily doing this to inform about games that might have received a bad reputation (25% of which don't deserve it, such as in the case of stuff like Sonic Labyrinth and Amulets & Armor).

If you think let's plays sound lame, they're not for you.

I on the other hand have watched at least an hour a day's worth for the past few years and am definitely not sick of them

I like a particular let's play of co-op Super Mario Bros 3, I don't remember who it was by though.
