Mr. T Posted May 10, 2012 I know a guy who was released from jail ~3 months after he was caught with an amount of ganja that would have netted him a minimum five year sentence, followed by instant deportation barely 6~7 years ago. I tried to find out why they were so lenient (he is a gaijin so definitely too poor to pay the bribe.) Still, in Japan you are at the mercy of a judge. No juries here buddy (they were trialling a jury system. Except that the juries never disagreed with the judge. And the judge has a veto to overrule them. WTF Japan) 0 Share this post Link to post

chexwarrior Posted May 10, 2012 Well its always possible a judge or jury could screw you, but with a jury I feel a bit safer since multiple people are (hopefully) debating the charges as opposed to one single guy deciding my fate. 0 Share this post Link to post

I would too, considering that the proper definition of amateur would imply someone who enjoys deciding the fates of others in this case. 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted May 10, 2012 If juries were replaced by appointed professionals, they would all be bribed to hell and back. Probably on the Mafia's permanent payroll. Selecting a group of random citizens (with a couple of background checks to verify they're fit for jury duty) opens a lot less room for corruption. For the same reason, I think Parliaments/Congresses/Senates/whatever you call it should have frequently-replaced, randomly-selected simple citizens (in addition to elected representatives). Bullshit laws that benefit nobody outside of pressure groups would have a much harder time getting passed this way. 0 Share this post Link to post
NiTROACTiVE Posted May 10, 2012 You got to be fucking joking me! Why would they legalize such a disgusting form of porn? Child pornography makes me sick! 0 Share this post Link to post

MRB_Doom Posted May 10, 2012 So they didn't legalize it? If it should ever come to that, then they would have to build several Towers of Babel and throw some orgy / mutilation parties for the criminals. Of course, the criminals would have to do the objective mentioned above to themselves. This civilization is pure fucking Babylon on heroin. Why go to Hell when you can stay in Heaven? Garden of the world near the new city, In the path of the hollow mountains, It will be seized and plunged into the Vat, Drinking by force the waters poisoned by sulfur. Be careful what you wish for. 0 Share this post Link to post
GreyGhost Posted May 11, 2012 MRB_Doom said:So they didn't legalize it? No. What the judges did was to point out that under the existing legislation there are circumstances where an individual can be exposed to child porn and avoid prosecution. 0 Share this post Link to post
