The Chaingunner looks awesome, and I can't wait to see your interpretations of the other monsters.

I think the idea of using the Doomguy as a more secondary character sounds fine, but I'm not sure about having the Zombieman be the focus of every comic. I think having some comics revolve around some of the other monsters would work well and, as Earthquake mentioned, would give you more options.

Naw, I wanted him to be a main character in that he'll show up a lot, but I plan for every monster to be in it and have more than a bit part.

Wow, when you get a nice comic done, you know, a few pages much like SilverWyvern's comic (I forgots name, but it's funny.), if it happens to be like that, you'll make a good comic maker.
