I was browsing MAP 32 when I came upon a section taken straight from Doom's E1M3.

Isn't this technically using materials from copyrighted work?

WTF, that's actually the original E1M3 with other stuff built around it. And I mean not it's rebuilt, check out some vertices, the original E1M3 wasn't even moved around on the grid.

Why don't I have a custom title by now?!

It's got 2 strikes against it, one of which is fatal:

1. It's visibly based on an IWAD map
2. It's a Doom 1 map made for Doom 2. It's illegal to release such maps.

Not only that, but the idea is weak. I don't find secret levels based on other levels (like Doom2.wad's secret levels) very cool.

So if I make a DooM 1 map and then convert it to doom2, it's illegal?

Yes, but don't worry, you cannot make a Doom 1 map anyway. Doom 1 is already published, and all of its maps were made by Id Software already.

Now i understand. I thought he was meaning a generic map for DooM 1... not the Original Maps...

So will this be removed in the next version or not? I think we should keep it, adding a few changes here and there to make it more playable.

I'd wager some of the canned maps faced similar issues to this one. Though I'd like to get my hands on an older version of map 5 or 6, can't remember which map but it was a very large one with a sort of starport type theme to it. I think map 5 because of the music I recall with it, but I'm rambling.
