if not. let's make names for those maps

i just thought of a name for map01 e1m1:
entrance zone

I think it'd be nice to have unique names for the maps. I'm sure that people will be able to come up with some pretty decent sounding ones.

yeah , the names sound like super mario levels 1-1 1-2 3-3 4-1

freedoom : level 1 , 2 , 3 ,4

freedoom 2 : map02: the sewers
map03 : the toxic zone

The only reason there are no names for the maps is that nobody has ever provided any. They aren't supposed to just be numbers.

Here's some ideas for level names:

E1M1: Docking Bay
E1M2: Power Facility
E1M3: Processing Plant
E1M4: Central Authority
E1M5: Research Bay
E1M7: Network Hub
E2M6: Haunted Corridors
E3M1: Gate of Pain
E3M3: Sacrificial Chambers

Thanks. In case your post sets a precedent, though: in this thread please just post the plain text names and don't go to the trouble of making graphics. Doing so is a waste of time, as we can automate the process of making them as part of Freedoom's build.

I think a general story theme would be good to have first. Map names are then fairly easy to make and should flow with the theme.

That would make sense. The problem then is in deciding on a story, something which the project has been missing since its conception and which it still doesn't have.

So then Death Egg just suggested the plot: a descent into the ancient Greek mythological underworld.

So maybe: AGM = Aegean Genetic Machina

And the monsters are re-creations of mythological creatures, originally for the purpose of amusement ,and without any destructive traits. But this hubris angered the gods (who apparently do exist after all), and they twisted these benign creations into their true viscious forms. Then they sent plague after plague, and a series of natural disasters upon humanity, which will continue indefinitely until such time that one man can pass the "Test of the Gods" and redeem humanity in their eyes.

I'd prefer to keep MAPxx or ExMx instead of making them all the same.
