Doomworld staff aren't allowed to post about their own projects; for instance, Mordeth never posts on Doomworld that he has updated the Mordeth TC site.
This rule does not apply 100% to anyone submitting news about their own project, but generally it is recommended that you not post about a project if you are the project author/leader or a primary contributor. You should probably e-mail us your news instead. For a discussion that may further explain this rule, look here.
However, if you can write a news submission about your project that is not self-praising, does not use the first person ("I have..." or "my/our project..."), describes the project succinctly if it is something new, and is otherwise structured as a proper news post (appropriate tone, generally one paragraph, includes links), then it will probably be approved.
Here are some good examples:
Chocolate Doom 1.1.0 released (fraggle is the author of Chocolate Doom)
Freedoom 0.6.2 released (Jon is the maintainer of Freedoom)
Skulltag 97D Preview (Aabra is a primary contributor to the Skulltag project)
Community Chest 3 released (The Green Herring contributed to the Community Chest 3 project)
Here are some bad (rejected) examples:
ReMood 0.7a Released! (ReMood has never been posted about before and the post doesn't adequately describe the project, inclusion of an entire changelog is completely unnecessary, and the exclamation points don't help either)
Paul's Doom Page Update (written in the first person)
Team Demise resurfaces......again (wonky title, written in the first person, unnecessarily signed at the end)
Deus Vult II: First Edition Released (written more like an advertisement than a news post)
