So I downloaded 7 kingdoms 2 yesterday cause It had a good price and I had been looking for it for a bit and it never came up.
Downloaded it onto my flashdrive through my moms comp and took it home,I knew I had to recertify that I had in fact bought it with my hard earned cash.
But lo and behold,It wouldn't let me recertify it.So I brought my comp to my moms this morning thinking with a faster connection it's sure to download...nope.Not a fucking thing. And what makes it worse is that these assholes don't even try to help out.
I just wanted to know if anyone else has had trouble with this company.I plan on filing a complaint with the BBB so that they would actually show me some initiative and see if they can solve this stupid problem. And what makes it worse is that some of the guy's on file planet had the same problem,it's a shame that companies can get away with assraping customers nowadays.
Needless to say I've asked for a refund and went ahead and bought the actual game.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TryMedia

"Trymedia is a division of RealNetworks" ...

This should've been a blaring red warning sign that these Trymedia guys are all clueless retards.

Ever since finding out years ago that Trymedia edits computer games so that neither official nor unofficial patches don't work on them, I've been avoiding them like a plague.

...and I was on the side trying to make those patches work on their editions, why the hell did they have to fuck up with the data files, throw them into new folders, add some new encryption on already encrypted archives and fuck around with the exe? Christ, fuck them.

Kinda leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth that they do business with Gamestop.

And I don't see the reason why they have to be so fucking difficult, and why they have to make the whole process such a pain in the ass. You'd think that if you paid for the game that you could transfer it from one comp to another.I'm not trying to pirate the shit I just don't have web access to my comp...

To circumvent piracy? From what it sounds like, they're doing a very good job at that to the point where it pisses you off. Buy the game. (From ebay, bargain bins and pawn shops. It's not like those options don't exist)

Except this is TryMedia we're talking about where is the game is already bought. Also, any form of Anti-Piracy that majorly inconveniences a legitimate buyer is not a solution

Trymedia has short trial periods first before purchase

Welcome to the wonderful world of DRM. According to the Trygames website it looks like they expect you to install the game on the computer it's downloaded to.

"6 - Enjoy your game/software indefinitely. The product is now yours. Install the game on additional computers by connecting to the Internet, downloading the product and entering in your activation code. Most of our products carry a limited money back guarantee."

Then again - the rationale behind DRM is that customers are dishonest by nature and are best kept on a short leash. They don't think of it as inconveniencing legitimate buyers - they're just keeping you honest.

If they're a poor quality company then be a poor quality customer. Simple as that.

DRM is a no-go for me.

Granted, I have bought songs on iTunes but only because it's ridiculously easy to get rid of the DRM legally(!) by burning the songs on a CD. iTunes terms (at least in Germany) even state that I may use the CD like any regular CD bought in a store. What's the point of protection then...?

Vendor lock-in when you buy a game is already pretty bad per-se (who are you going to get support from when the company who made the game is no more or the product is too old or just "discontinued"?)

Going for a SECOND lock-in and artificially imposed restrictions on use on top of that is just plain stupid. I want to be able to play a game I bought on ANY PC I own, and yeah, this includes even those WITHOUT an internet connection, and not having to "activate" anything. Activating is just such an absurd and paradoxical concept it makes myself hurt.

As Jodwin pointed out, good luck getting support for a game that has been locked out even from its own manufacturer, let alone the end user.

This is bullshit, emailed them back saying i was tired of the run around and that i wanted my money back...within the 48 hour time limit...and I never got a reply nor my money. If it didnt cost me out the ass to take them to fucking court I would but it would be ridiculous to do that over 20 bucks.

yeah,I figured I would just play the demo.So I just tried to play the demo and it gave me an error message due to the activemark program.Tried to just reinstall it from scratch but it wouldnt make a connection even thought there was in fact a internet connection. They've got a buch of monkies running the customer service. And yes I do know what it's like to work as a customer service rep...I was in layaway at walmart a couple of xmas's ago.

My thoughts exactly,I paid $20 for the game I should be able to download it to any comp I want. And if the fucking game is old enough they should make it abandonware...they made the Ultima series abandonware, but Richard Garriott seems like a decent guy and not as money hungry.I doubt that Enlight Software will ever make it abandonware.

Enough mentions of "abandonware". It equals warez and is off-bounds here.
