I was thinking about all of these games I'd like to see ported over to a doom source port...figured I'd post this and get some of your opinions.
Blakestone(I know it's been done but it's never been a complete wad...it's always been 1 to 4 levels.)

Ultima Underworld(I know this would be damn near impossible)

I would love to see a good port of Blakestone... Played that to death back in the day. Perhaps another game to add to that list would be corridor 7. I know it was just an average wolfenstein/blakestone wannabe, but it wasn't a bad game for all that. Had its moments.

Possibly eradicator might be cool. The others I haven't actually played.

Ok let me rephrase this then to please leileilol...not like I care.
Instead of porting it to zdoom or whatever fucking sourceport you use,make a sourceport for it.I guess if this is the case then this thread's gonna either get helled or moved to everything else.

And anyways,not all games run in dosbox.

The games you mentioned run perfectly fine in DOSBox actually, unless you aim to recreate broken-in-dosbox games such as Build-Your-Own-Railroad in zdoom or something.

I tend to agree that dosbox makes these games run fine, making ports of them would be kind of silly. There would need to be a seriously larger community for modding of those games to have a need for a source port.

Shadowcaster, and Ultima Underworld 2. Yeah, they can run in DOS Box. (In fact, UW2 even runs directly in Windows after patching it a bit.) But the point of the port wouldn't be simply to play it, but to overhaul its UI (full screen, mouselook, customizable controls, and so on).

The higher res would be a bonus.

if those games did have source ports, i may play some of them once and then not care after that. It would be a waste of time and code, and IMO a PC version of Contra with map editors and boss makers is in higher demand.

Yeah,I'm not saying port all of these games directly into Zdoom,Doomsday,etc.Games like Ultima Underworld and Witchaven should have their own ports like whats being developed for Dark Forces.

Hardly anybody actually talks about "abandonware" in terms of the game/software being abandoned. I've seen Doom on so-called abandonware sites, which is just plain wrong since the original Doom games are still in retail stores even.

Abandonware sucks. It's nothing more than a lazy excuse for fat asses to skip the step of legally obtaining by means of ebay or trade to get to the obscure/old game they want. Moving on...

Darkwolf was working on a Blakestone mod for Legacy some time back. He didn't finish it, but I remember playing what he had done.

Thats probably as close as you'll get to a 'port'.
