It is the reviewer's job to tell you what they think about the WAD whether it be good or bad. The only review that didn't live up to the others was PRD's AARGH.WAD review, IMO.

I didn't make any of the maps that were in this weeks newstuff, but if any of my maps were to receive reviews like that, I'd be really pissed off. Even after looking at the screenshots at maps that weren't even really that bad, still got atrocious reviews. I'd really prefer you guys try to advertise the map you're reviewing the best you can by making note of every possible interesting thing you can find, without being a sarcastic liar. I know none of the maps that were submitted to this weeks newstuff have qualities that make them absolutely worthless. Extremely negative reviews bother me a lot.

Except for PDF's non-review of AARGH_2.WAD I think this week is how /newstuff should be done. Regarding that exception - sorry, what's the map about? The screenshot doesn't look nearly as bad as the 'review' suggests. I'd like to know at least why the reviewer thinks it's shit.
