Insomniac, our prayers are with you, make no mistake.

Losses

It was not dying: everybody died.
It was not dying: we had died before
In the routine crashes-- and our fields
Called up the papers, wrote home to our folks,
And the rates rose, all because of us.
We died on the wrong page of the almanac,
Scattered on mountains fifty miles away;
Diving on haystacks, fighting with a friend,
We blazed up on the lines we never saw.
We died like aunts or pets or foreigners.
(When we left high school nothing else had died
For us to figure we had died like.)

In our new planes, with our new crews, we bombed
The ranges by the desert or the shore,
Fired at towed targets, waited for our scores--
And turned into replacements and woke up
One morning, over England, operational.

It wasn't different: but if we died
It was not an accident but a mistake
(But an easy one for anyone to make.)
We read our mail and counted up our missions--
In bombers named for girls, we burned
The cities we had learned about in school--
Till our lives wore out; our bodies lay among
The people we had killed and never seen.
When we lasted long enough they gave us medals;
When we died they said, "Our casualties were low."

The said, "Here are the maps"; we burned the cities.

It was not dying --no, not ever dying;
But the night I died I dreamed that I was dead,
And the cities said to me: "Why are you dying?
We are satisfied, if you are; but why did I die?"

it was probably a bunch of fucking hicks. (bombers, not bombees) If they have the best armed forces in the world, how come they could have been retarded enough to let this happen? Arrogant bastards...they should fight their own war.

Seems a very strange occurance:
Pilot mistakenly thinks he is under attack from ground, asks for permission to bomb, is told in no uncertain terms NO, it is a well marked training area, guy has to be a moron to not know, asks again for permission to bomb, is told NO, told to put down a marker, so it can be checked out, guy instigates his "Right to self defence" and bombs them, strange...

Do you truly believe that any organization in the world, even the militaries, are completely without idiots? This reservist pilot is going to hang for his screw-up, that's pretty obvious. Let's not hold the entire military to blame.

apparently claimed that it was an accident only, although the pilot was only mistakenly thought so, us is still most likely responsible for this loss, especially that pilot, he was probably too stressed or nervous, thought that he was under attack, he needs to take chill pills even get glassess even for looking at the radar in a ject, however i think he should be suspended.

Stupid American!

at this point, i do agree, on certain people.
anyway hope this wont spark ww3 cuz' of this

More like a trial. That was a major fuck-up.

He's already on trial. With evidence from the media prosecution, the court of public opinion should have him found guilty and sentenced to death by sundown. If that late.

You wonder if this counts as a "battle"? Or if those four or however many soldiers lost will be listed as killed in a training accident?

In the list fods posted, only about half of those men are listed as "Killed in Action" or died from wounds that (I assume) were received in action. That's pretty normal, actually. Most of the Allied losses thus far in Afghanistan have been from sundry accidents outside of combat.

when I heard that some canadians died in afghanistan, my first thoughts were:

Some canadians are dead.

Neve campbell is canadian.

after countless checks of all my favorite neve campbell sites, two plane rides, a trip to afghanistan to check the bodies, a trespassing charge on the campbell estate, and then a wank for all my hard work, ive been able to determine that neve campbell wasnt killed in action.

so this post is just here to increase my postcount.

I didnt lose anything precious to me

glad you didnt lose anything either

Heh, something like that could easily happen in every other nation's army.
I heard a story from my older brother about a moron who was to transport some damn expensive equipment from point b to point a. Well, he loaded it unto the truck and proceeded with his asssignment.
On the way he drove under a low bridge and the upper crates were smashed against the bridge. Fair enough shit happens, but two days later HE DID EXACTLY THE SAME THING!
One would've thought he had learned from his initial mistake and made sure that he didn't load all the crates on top of each other, but no, he had to do it the same dumb way.

well, some good news. National Defence didn't phone my family.

ahh, that's a relief.

I wish I was Canadian...

Why? For the Krispy Kremes or the dying?

[Slow, mournful]
His eyes, they close,
And his last breath spoke,
He had seen all to be seen,
A life once full
Now an empty vase
Wilt the blossoms on his early grave.
Walk away, me boy, walk away, me boy,
And by morning we'll be free,
Wipe that golden tear from your mother dear
And raise what's left of the flag for me.

Because, Canadians are so much cooler than Americans. It sucks to be an American. Everyone automaticaly thinks you are an asshole if they find out you are American. Even worse, a lot of them try to kill you. My life would have been a lot more meaningful were I born in Canada...or better yet, Germany.

[considerably faster, angry]
Then the rosary beads
Count them one-two-three
Fell apart as they hit the floor.
In our garb of black
We must pay respect
To the color we're born to mourn.
Walk away, m'boys! Walk away, m'boys!
By morning we'll be free,
Wipe that golden tear from your mother dear,
Raise what's left of the flag for me!

In this wasted ruin, we professed our will
Filled with hatred and remorse,
Where I pick and scratch at the blooded mass
The sight of rage now that filled my lungs.
'Fact there are many ways to kill a man, they say,
With blade of ax or sword.
I saw the bullet fired from the shapeless guise
Of the shell of a Thompson gun!
Walk away, m'boys! Walk away, m'boys!
And by morning we'll be free,
Wipe that golden tear from your mother dear,
Raise what's left of the flag for me!

From the East dell to the Western shore,
Where many men an' many more will fall,
But no angel flies with me tonight,
'Till freedom reigns on all,
I curse the names for which we slaved our days
So ev'ry man shall his kingdom come!

But sure as night turns day, it's the passion play,
Oh my God, what have they done!?
With madman's rage, well they dug our graves
But the dead rise again, ye fools!
Walk away, m'boys! Walk away, m'boys!
And by morning we'll be free,
Wipe that golden tear from your mother dear,
Raise what's left of the flag for me!

Walk away, m'boys! Walk away, m'boys!
And by morning we'll be free...

Wipe that golden tear from your mother dear...

And raise what's left of the flag for me!
