Pirate Doom! [GZDoom pwad] - new map 06/05/14

Looking good. The hand doesn't stay consistent though, when you switch to the pistol (it turns into the Doom guy's hands). So I would do either complete respriting or just use the entire Outlaws sprite set.

This is not suposed to happen. What source port (and version) did you use??

They´re all Outlaws sprites, from the same character. When you play it without the hud the difference is clearer.

Oh, didn't notice then I guess. I remember the shotguns from Outlaw but not the pistol.

This is the arrrrrrrrrsomst WAD I played in a few months very entertaining, love the ability to atack with your sword while holding the revolver.

I hope this will get around 15-20 maps, too bad I cant offer much help the only thing I can do are Doom 1 E1 styled maps -.-

I intend to release it with 10 maps, because I don´t want this to take toooo long. I started in april and there are still 5 maps, so it will probably be released only next year..

Mapper´s help would be welcome, but yes the maps had to fit the style :)

Oh it´s great to see those videos, help me very much with gameplay, balancing, item placement and motivation :)

edit: And oh, I forgot to mention, I don´t know what sourceport you used, but I saw a bug in the video, that candles on the floor were supposed to be on the candelabra hanging at the ceiling! I fixed that, their Z height wasn´t high enough, but I didn´t get this error here so I didn´t notice that :/

I used GZDoom. I might've to check my version but it should be a recent one i think.

Here´s a new version of Pirate Doom!, with a new map, new enemy, new gun, some new effects etc etc.

This map is called "Circus!" and it´s all about crazy gameplay, kind of "tricks and traps" style.
Designed to be played in sequence but also playable from pistol start, as all the other maps.

Well folks, here´s a new map for Pirate Doom!, "Booty Bay", a small town where pirates meet to sell their booty at "Booty Market" and play bluegrass with their banjos. It gives kind of a western feel to the place.

Also, I would like to ask if someone could help me with the sword and reload animations, they need more frames, I know it´s not an easy task, but this is something I couldn´t do.

Unfortunately I can't offer help, my skills just aren't up to it. I just wanted to say I'm loving each new map as it comes along. This really is one of the most creative and enjoyable Doom wads ever!

This is awesome. :) Unfortunately, it slows down way too much for me... I even set the resolution down to 320x240 and still only got about 3fps on the second map... probably just my crappy video card.

i'm hesitant to play this just because i want to play the finished product all at once for maximum effect. but i might cave in and play the ongoing beta because it looks too cute :p

Just watched the video of map 07; wow, how did I miss this? It looks amazing, some really cool ideas in there. I will definitely be downloading and playing through this soon! Keep up the good work!

pretty neat wad you got here. At first i thought this was going to be a crappy jokewad but i was pleasantly surprised!! This turned out to be a pretty fun and cheerful wad.

I'm in the same ship as tango, trying to resist playing this until you finish this in it's entirety. Though I will probably crack sooner or later.

You still can skip to MAP03, all maps are also playable from pistol start, just use the sword whenever you can and keep an eye for ammo. Unfortunately, MAP07 will probably run slow too, and maybe MAP05. They have similar effects that slow things down a bit.

Thanks a lot! This mod has humor elements, but it´s not a joke wad. MAP06 has some noises and music the resembles a joke wad (ok some graphics too), but it is the closest it´ll get.

And for those waiting for the complete version before playing, it will have between 10 and 14 maps. Probably only next year :P

There are two new maps, weapons and monsters.
The first map is called "battleships":

I don´t know if these cannon sprites reeealy fit, but it´s the best I could find.

And the other one is called "Lost City". This map is not "piratish", but I think it fits. I borrowed the snake bridge and some details from older maps of mine because I was lazy.
I tried to connect all the rooms, I hope it didn´t make the layout confusing. I´ll post screenshots instead of a gameplay video because I don´t want to spoil the new monsters yet (if you played old 1x1 fighting games, you´ll recognize them):
