Disney buys Star Wars, plans to release Ep. VII in 3 years.

Thrawn trilogy plz. Wonder if they'll take the Tron Legacy route with CGI to make the actors look younger, or if they'll re-cast?

Disney now owns LucasArts?

I hope this means that the next Pirates of the Caribbean movies will be about the adventures of Guybrush Threepwood.

Also, I want a full-length animated movie adaptation of Day of the Tentacle.

Maybe now that Lucas is quitting, Disney will give people what they want and release the original Star Wars trilogy in its original theatrical form.

This makes me worried that Disney will just milk the franchise with endless sequels, but on the other hand now that Lucas isn't in charge that leaves the possibility of future movies being somewhat decent.

And the franchise hasn't already been milked to death?

Oh for fuck's sake...

Couldn't have said it better myself.
I'll put it this way:
Not only do I sense a disturbance in the force, but a failure as well

It has been with endless toys/games/merchandise, but at least Lucas stopped after Episode III and didn't keep trying to make prequels and/or sequels.

Are you sure? I find it hard to believe they just upped and decided to make episode 7 as soon as they bought the company.

Star Wars is one of those things that, as much as I try to convince myself otherwise, I still love. So I actually wouldn't mind seeing more movies made, instead of just everything else they can slap the name on. The prequels mostly sucked but they had their good points, I'd like to see them do better.

Good luck seeing if anyone from episode 6 will actually want to continue on with this.

Why does Disney have to buy everything, when it ruins all that it touches? There should be a ceiling for this kind of stuff.

Well, no. If it's still a high-seller, then there's plenty of milking to be had.

I didn't mind Star Wars, but more films are just completely unnecessary.

Star Wars was ruined since Episode VI.
No skin off my back. Star Trek is still superior in every way.

Clearly something that's been in the pipeline for a while. They've done surprisingly well to play the cards so close to their chests. With a buyout of that size, there would normally be some rumours beforehand.

Granted I haven't bought a star wars anything vhs or dvd ever so I honestly don't know, but haven't any of the various releases in the past decade contained a theatrical cut?

The limited edition singular DVDs had the original theatrical cut as an extra, but it was a lazy laser disk transfer.

I mean, I like Star Wars, I even liked Episode I and III (II was a mess, mostly because of Jedi Annie character. Mace Windu and Jango were pretty baller though, and Dooku). I even watched the new cartoon series for a bit (Though the first Samurai Jack like one I think was far superior).

But, I mean... Really? Episode VII? What the fuck is that about? Who the fuck actually wants this outside of Disney?

And besides, Disney might start some sort of crackdown on all the wholesome Star Wars porn out there. Nobody wants that crackdown!

I wonder if they will base VII on the lore or just make it up as they go, also who will be the villains, maybe they will bring Grand Admiral Thrawn or even Warlord Zsinj to the picture, the rebels taking of coruscant from Imperial remnant forces might be involved.

It's during times such as this I thank fucking Christ that I don't give a shit about Star Wars.

Sweet! Now we will finally get to see the offspring of Han Solo and Princess Leia, and we will get to see Luke meeting his future bride-to-be assassin Mara Jade.
So far, all that we've been able to do was read about them, but now we will finally see them on the screen. It's about damn time! I've been waiting for ages.
