Not what you think it is ;) Some scrap work I did, first in pencil then overlayed with a regular thin sharpie on a scrap piece of construction paper.

Nice art. I'd probably make the eye bigger so it stands out more myself.

Same. Eye's kinda hard to tell what it is, but the shading is rather awesome.

Edit: I mean that as a good thing. It's good picture.
