Notebook - Testing

Hey all. Some of you may remember me talking about this a LONG time ago. Well, I'd like to dust it off and get it complete now, and hopefully soon!

So I need a couple people to test this out and let me know anything that needs to be fixed.

Project Notebook is an Episode 3 replacement for the Ultimate Doom, vanilla play. The idea was that all the maps were designed on sheets of notebook paper, so should be small and interesting with an emphasis on older-style design. Most of the music is also from Dwango10 so any oldschoolers may have a touch of nostalgia. I do at least. :P

Played the first map so far, I really like the orange marble texture and the new orange flat.

The first map was superb, small and entertaining. I will keep playing it later but so far, great fun.

These levels are seriously badass!

One thing I did notice: in E3M3, one of your DOORTRAKs is missing its lower-unpegged. Not sure which one, it'd probably be easiest to just search for all of them and lower-unpeg them all at the same time, since I don't think you're using it unconventionally in that level.

It's also a little annoying how there's no consistency between levels for which fluids do damage (lava does 2-5 damage in E3M1, then 5-10 in E3M2, then no damage in E3M4). Not sure what you can do about that.

Found the linedef and fixed it.

Also about the damaging floors. Um.. yeah. Sorry about that! I tend to go with what the level needs, focusing more on it than the whole. Also, making the lava in e3m4 makes it all that much harder. I suppose I could add a few radsuits around and still make it damaging.

Whoops I found it! Somehow a boom line snuck in. Fixed!

Edit: Moot point since Notebook only works in boom :P
So boom compatible it is.

Cool, thanks! Unfortunately I'm not sure how to replay demos. In all my years I never messed with demos at all.

Demos play back with PrBoom-Plus source port, wad should be in same directory with PrBoom-Plus :) .

my FDAs

Nice maps with interesting layouts and creative design. Thumbs up for old school midi selection.

e3m7 could use a little more ammo I think. Also, obvious misalignments on linedefs 74 and 98.

The final battle on e3m8 is way too easy: you get enough cells to simply kill all spiders with BFG.

Yeah, E3M4 would be pretty terrible if the floors were actually damaging -- which is why I think there's not much to do except say "sometimes lava hurts and sometimes it doesn't deal with it".

Any news on this? I plan to record some speedruns for this wad so I'm waiting for the final release.
Also are we allowed to use your beautiful textures?

Wow! I don't have pay attention on this wad, screens are very tempting, very ID-like, and the choices of textures are really cool!! I download this :D
