Edge Projectile Attacks

Has anyone had success with using an edge PROJECTILE instead of a SHOT attack type? I have them setup to use them on BOUNCE so that the decals (trying to get holes and wall/floor marks to work) so they don't stick in mid air when they collide with an enemy. However, if I use that state, they don't seem to work on the DEATH section.
