A question about the Cyberdemon

Recommended Posts

What is a cyberdemon? A miserable little pile of metal and flesh! But enough talk...I'll deathmatch you!

Are we human, or are we Cyberdemon?

If you shoot us, do we not bleed? If you see us, do we not bellow? If you BFG us, do we not die?

I now so badly desire a cube-shaped Cyberdemon!

Will you settle for a Cubademon?

"No! I must fight the enemy!" Said the Cyberdemon. "No Cyberdemon," the radio crackered, "You are the enemy." And then Cyberdemon was a boss.

Is Baron of Hell Boss or enemy?

A Baron of Hell is a door with health.

Cyberdemon is a Boss in DOOM (I) and it's an usual Monster (like every monster in game) in DOOM II .

In “The Ultimate Doom” Cyberdemon is also usual monster (E4M6).

Nope, he's a boss there. Killing him opens the bars to the exit.

The only time in the original game that the Cyberdemon doesn't cause anything to happen on death with a boss trigger is E3M9.

You don’t have to kill him? After fake exit you can just return to the beginning?

As for his death triggering an event, does that make mancubi and aranchotrons in “Dead Simple” bosses?

Don't forget about the one in E4M2.

EDIT: To the OP's question: Cyberdemon is a monster. Whether he's used as a boss, a regular enemy, a turret, a harmless statue, or even an ally (thanks to features of advanced Doom ports, or simply provoked to infight other monsters as the intended strategy), depends on the context the level designer puts it in.

btw is the Cyberdemon a boss or a enemy, because me and my friend are have a talk about it and what to know for sure

You know,
A boss is a powerful enemy that the player will confront it one time. And the level finishes with it's death (most in old games like Doom , Wolfenstein , ...).
So , in Doom 1 , Cyberdemon is a boss.
But in Doom 2 , Cyberdemon found many times in maps and killing it didn't finish the maps.
So , Icon of Sin was the boss in Doom 2.
In Doom 3 , Cyberdemon acts like E2M8.
Then the boss in Doom 3 is the Cyberdemon.
In DOOM (Doom 4) looks like the Cyberdemon is a node from the doom 2 Cyberdemon.
Not sure about DOOM , but looks like we will confront somebody else as a boss.

You are asking the question in a wrong way.

It is like as if you ask "is the human in the marvel comics a super powered being or not?".

There is for sure more thna one human in the marvel comics.

The cyberdemon from E2M8 is not the same cyberdemon that is in E4M2.

The former is a boss, the other one not.
