Frankdude Posted August 17, 2010 I see alot of people using steam. Do you know that it is spyware? Valve admited that they can see what type of hardware you are using, and there is a hidden entry in your regresity when using steam. Who knows what else valve can see... 0 Share this post Link to post
phi108 Posted August 17, 2010 Hehehehe.... But in regards to Steam, I now hate it way more than the previous threads, because there was an update forced on all Half Life 2 ad CS:S users, upgrading the Source engine to the 2007 Orange Box version. That version of Source is buggy and slow on my old computer, so now I can't enjoy those games in the smooth correctly-rendered perfection that they had reached on the old engine. I long ago accepted that the Orange Box games would never work good on my comp, but now the even older games don't work. I will forever regret carelessly leaving Half Life 2 set to "update automatically", I never knew such a destructive irreversible update would happen. 0 Share this post Link to post
Technician Posted August 17, 2010 Most software you install or download is spyware to a degree. It's honing back information to it's databank. 0 Share this post Link to post

Planky Posted August 17, 2010 Wow. Im uninstalling now. Do you think they will refund me the 20 or so games I bought? 0 Share this post Link to post

I hope you aren't being serious, because I doubt that they will give you a refund. Can't you back up the games and play them without having Steam installed? 0 Share this post Link to post

Snakes Posted August 17, 2010 If you're carrying an iPod, the government can track you down to the nearest 3cm. Not only will they find you and make you disappear, you'll ask, "Why?" They'll point to your right pocket. Yes, they will even be able to tell you which pocket your iPod is in. This is due to a very secret, yet powerful, technology known as microgurus. These micro-sized sentient beings actually infiltrate your body via the headphones, and transform your neurotransmitters into little magnetic receptors that send out signals at one particular wavelength. These wavelengths are relayed to the Master Satellite, which in turn send the signal to the Head of the CIA. He can track you at all times, no matter where you run. Basically, it's a full-functioning version of Cerebro from X-Men. The film was funded by the government and was designed as a version of brainwash to make you think such a device only exists in fiction. The only solution is that you must throw away your iPod. So? So can Windows. It even sends that crap to MS all the time. Not only that, but when I sent the error report last time Visual Studio 2008 crashed it sent the entire contents of the state of the program in the memory as far as it could determine was relevant. You know what else has hidden registry entries? Windows. Where do you think your password is? :p 0 Share this post Link to post
DoomUK Posted August 17, 2010 Timelined anti-Steam propaganda. This isn't 2004. 0 Share this post Link to post
Aliotroph? Posted August 17, 2010 At least in 2004 it was easy to argue that Steam just didn't work half the time. It destroyed quite a few savegames for me that year. 0 Share this post Link to post

wildweasel Posted August 17, 2010 Steam has not randomly charged large amounts to my PayPal or bank account, nor have I received any viruses, death threats, or other harmful things as a result of using Steam. Therefore, you crazy, man. 0 Share this post Link to post

If you knew anything other than rumors, you'd find that Steam prompts you to send them your system information. This does not happen without your knowledge. 0 Share this post Link to post

Proof positive that subliminal conditioning works! All that and more is is being inflicted on Steam users worldwide, what you don't realize is that you've been programmed to ignore some events and regard others as the consequence of your own actions. How does it feel to be a slave to the system? 0 Share this post Link to post

Okay... 1) I don't see what the huge deal over Steam (or any program/company) knowing your hardware information is. I mean, most people paste their e-penis all over the internet anyway. It's not like they can tell what's on your hard drive exactly, just it's size and possibly how filled up it is (with porn). 2) These days just about 2/3 of programs leave hidden registry entries on your system. Got Windows or anything else by Microsoft? Any well-used apps like Photoshop? Any web browsers? Any games by major publishers made in the last 5-10 years? Oh hey look, you've got hidden registry entries! So get the fuck off you moron and/or troll. 0 Share this post Link to post

This was a piece of shit with 512 MB of RAM, a 1.5 GHZ dual core CPU, and an old shitty Nvidia 6600. No excuses. 0 Share this post Link to post
