Yeah, keep in mind that BOOM is for DOS, and it's quite old so a lot of its bugs have been fixed in other ports (I just fixed a couple recently in fact O_O ). You'd probably be better off using something else.

On the Boom page, you will find a direct Windows port of Boom 2.02.

The main present-day Windows ports based directly on Boom are Eternity and Prboom. You might also be interested in a modified version of Prboom that can be found here.

Most modern ports support Boom's additional features though (jDoom being the main exception).
