Yes im coding heretic for edge using ddf. So far so good my first mile stone is to make the first episode total playable.

The only thing i cant do is inventory stuff, but then i was just going to code them as weapons and place them in the 0 slot. why am i doing this you might ask? well i want to make a heretic map with 3D floors, water and rts scripting etc, i just have to make a heretic version of edge first...

Seems to be coming along quite well. The Heretic weapons should be interesting to do in Edge - but how will you do the Tome of Power? Will you have the alternate attack just use more ammo?

I havent looked that far ahead yet, i still need to buy the full version anyway, thats why im concentrating on the 1st episode...

Need any help on this? I've always wanted to do this before when I was a newbie, but I didn't have the EDGE DDF skill...

EDIT: Also, I have all 5 episodes, so after you're done with the first episode I can finish the others for you.

Darkhaven- if you would like to help that would be awesome, I've nearly got the 1st map totaly playable, the only thing i havent looked into is the sounds (normal & ambient).

With the tome of power, i've decided to use rts for the following

+give ammo for the secondary attacks
+Swap the normal shity beating stick with a not so shity one
+have the book thing fly round in the corner

Yes all the weapons will have a second attack but wont work normaly.

Also if anyone has any heretic mapping guides (not that it's much diffrent from doom) plz post a link.

So if your intrested give me a shout..


Btw, i didnt know heretic had 5 episodes? i thought it was only 3.

Well, that depends on if you have the Extended version. The normal Heretic has 3 episodes, yes, but (i guess you could call it "Ultimate Heretic") has 5 episodes. Send me what you have so far to http://www.elric@monumentweb.com

I have left requests for Heretic-equse features on the EDGE site, and hopefully things like inventory, hovering items, ghost monsters and the like will soon make it into EDGE. :P

As one of the EDGE coders, I'm very interested in this. While Heretic support is not a high priority for us, we don't mind adding some features to make it work better.

This is in contrast to Hexen, where the changes required are too big (polyobjs, hubs, ACS scripting), plus they would need to implemented from scratch as we cannot use Raven's source code due to licensing problems.

BTW, how far along is your Heretic DDF?
