This is probably going to sound dumb to all the long term doomers out there, but i need help with zdoom. i just downloaded the 2003 gamers pack of ZDooM and the problem is that i have never ran any kind of source at all. i just found out about it in the last 2 months. So, i need some one to give me a step by step manual on what to do, so i dont loose what i have because i lost the disc for my game. it would really be helpfull if someone told me what to do so i get the most out of doom. As i said, i have never run one of these things before, and i am lost as to how it works, so if anyone can give me some help, i would really appreciate it. THANKS AND FRAG YA LATER!

I'm guessing you downloaded http://www.fileplanet.com/123293/12...er's-Pack-2003 from FilePlanet? This is really old. I'm really in no mood to write a tutorial right now (sorry...) but I'm sure somebody else can help you. Just be patient and it'll all come together.

Maybe I don't really understood the question but I take it your simply asking how to run zdoom.

Well head over to http://zdoom.org/download.html and download ZDoom 2.0.63a and unpack it into your doom directory.
Click on the Zdoom.exe and it should work.

It does not alter your existing files or anything so don't worry.

If you want to play a custom wad simply drag and drop it to the zdoom.exe icon.

You can always read the zdoom.txt (in the cab) for more info

Well, you see, i've JUST found out about zdoom and as much as i wanted to play it, i couldn't find where to unpack it or how to use it when i did get it all together. I guess the obviousness to put it in the doom dir. never came to me.

I'd recommend using ZDoom 2.0.96, as well as putting it in it's own folder. All you have to do is copy the iwads (doom.wad, doom2.wad, heretic.wad, hexen.wad, strife1.wad, etc. if you have them)to the ZDoom folder. All you need is one of them but it's fun to collect. :D Then you should be all set. I would also recommend making the iwads read only, I've broke doom2.wad a couple of times toying with Wintex and having to use a copy from a different folder.
