Now if only something could be done to allow sprites to be drawn into the floor/ceiling rather than offsetting them or cutting them off...

ZDoomGL did this, but I'm not sure how it's method would work out in a newer port...

GZdoom is my favorite, just for the opengl.Even though for the longest time I was all for doomsday but I can't play many great wads on there(except rocket base and chiller castle)

I'm not so much of a brand loyalist. I bounce around between source ports depending on what kind of mood I'm in. 99% of the time I use Zdoom or PRBoom.

After fiddling with dosbox, I have recently been playing through the original iwad levels using the original doom executables.
Gotta have that sound blaster music for the full nostalgic experience.

I'm rather surprised how close I am able to get vanilla doom's controls to what I normally use on source ports.
I'm just not old-school enough to use original controls.

WASD+Mouse with 'joyb_speed' set to '29' (enables 'always run').

I've found the biggest problem with dosbox is getting the sound in sync with the game.
A stock config file tends to have a nasty sound delay, but I managed to fix this by setting 'blocksize' to '256'.

But without a relatively powerful cpu, it tends to cause popping sounds (my 4200+ X2 has no problems, can't say the same for my P3 866mhz.)
