I'm very new at editing with it, I may have overlooked it, but could someone please give me instructions on how to get the limit of players to be be about 2 or 4 instead of the default 16?

zserver.exe -maxplayers 2 -maxclients 2 (any other paramenters)

you can change it to whatever you want (up to 16).

I entered that stuff into the DOS thing where I start up the server... Is that right? Because that's where it says the command doesn't exist.

no. Here's what you do. Load a dos prompt manually. Then type cd\doom2 (if your dir with zdaemon isn't doom2, change it to whatever it is), then you paste what deathz0r said. It will start the server with those options

Now it said it can't open the .cfg! Is it something to do with Ultimate Doom from the collector's edition or using Windows XP?

Bah, it gives me CFG errors all the time too, even though it's set up exactly like the readme said. I gave up.

You should get the Doom Connector Ü-Man, but you won't be able to play games run with the Zdaemon engine.
