It seems in the newest version 1_2_0_1 the feature to disable the sg/ssg and fist/chainsaw toggle is removed ?!
I was just fiddling with it for over an hour and couldn't get it to work, until I found an older version on a cdr.

It used to work with:
[Doom.WeaponSlots]
Slot[1]=Fist
Slot[2]=Pistol
Slot[3]=Shotgun
Slot[4]=Chaingun
Slot[5]=RocketLauncher
Slot[6]=PlasmaRifle
Slot[7]=BFG9000
Slot[8]=Chainsaw
Slot[9]=SuperShotgun

Why was this essential feature removed ? :/

It wasn't removed but altered due to the needs of more modern mods. Saving the weapon config like older versions did just caused too many problems. The custom binding can be restored per player class by manually adding it to the config. In your case:

code:
[DoomPlayer.WeaponSlots] Slot[1]=Fist Slot[2]=Pistol Slot[3]=Shotgun Slot[4]=Chaingun Slot[5]=RocketLauncher Slot[6]=PlasmaRifle Slot[7]=BFG9000 Slot[8]=Chainsaw Slot[9]=SuperShotgun

Thanks for the answer, any chance it will be included in the menus ? I'd guess there are more players who would want to bind the weapons without editing some ini.

I hate to say it but I have actually tried this now and it does NOT work, both weapons are still as toggle on one key, and the keys for slot 8/9 do nothing.

Edit: most recent version 1.2.01

If that doesn't work best report it at the ZDoom forums. That change wasn't my idea so best report it to the person who's responsible. ;)

Given the fact GZ is the creator of GZDoom, you would think he knows his stuff and the first advice from him would be correct. And when it isn't he tells me to ask elsewhere :D But ah well atleast we can play the 'modern' weapon mods by wildweasel, instead of having a feature working that's pretty much fps standard since...Quake ?
