Well, I'm going to try to make an E1 sky and see how it turns out. Does anyone have a (high-res?) copy of the original photograph that sky was based on?

I have no any ideas what you want to see with cubemaps on E1. Skydome just looks ideal with E1 sky. Absolutely the same as normal sky.

Cubemaps are needed for something like map12 @ doom2

@Gez, thanks, but i think you're right, I don't know If I can do anything with this. I may have to draw over it in Photoshop.

@entryway, that's a good point, but even giving the sky a little more distinct texture (like clouds or something) would not be so bad, even if I used the original image or texture as a base

meh.

I really don't like the looks of skydomes in Doom, there's something about them that just seems 'off.' As entryway pointed out, for textures like that city one, it can look quite ugly.

Slightly off-topic, but no point starting a new thread.

I have a set of tall skies (256x200) for Doom 1 and 2 (someone posted them over on ZDoom.org a while back, link is dead now), but does anyone know if there are any for Final Doom?
