Does Chocolate pigs require having Hexen wad, because I am missing that ?

Yes, hexen.wad is required.

Is there a substitute Hexen IWAD, that could be downloaded ?

No, there are no Freedoom-style project for Hexen, and there probably shouldn't be one as long as Blasphemer is not finished.

I can't replicate it in debug mode. Do you have to do something special first?
No. What happened that one time is it gave the 'application has stopped working' and I chose the Debug option and it opened up Visual Studio and gave me that error message. Usually when a title screen demo loads or I try to respawn as mage the game just quits with no message at all. One more thing I just found: when I try to load DEMO1, DEMO2, or DEMO3 through the command line, the game crashes (a demo I record plays just fine).

I just remote desktopped into another computer and had the same issue, with the latest windows build.

EDIT: I just found the problem. It was the iwad. I feel very stupid. No it was not warez, this is the one I bought and downloaded from the id site. Could the iwad have been corrupted when patching deathkings for the music? The iwad has 10/13/1995 modified timestamp. Anyway I need to apologize to fraggle since I've been bugging the hell out of him about this.

Quasar, is there a way to take screenshots in full screen? I know choco-doom has -devparm but that doesn't seem to work here...

Anyway, I'm already level 18! Frost bite is great. Sometimes, I used to get stuck in the frozen monsters, but I have learned to bite and quickly step back, and now I have mastered this technique.

I'm looking forward to my new power at level 20! That is, of course, if I can figure out what to do now. (Getting lost in this game is my specialty :P)

Suppose corruption could have been the problem, or maybe it was the 1.0 version? I know the Hexen 1.0 IWAD has many issues that the 1.1 one does not have. I was not aware of extra crashes being one of them though.

Hexen *does* have a large number of serious bugs, though, some of which will be fatal to Chocolate which were not to vanilla due to DOS4GW's propensity to ignore access violations by mapping most of the x86 address space into the process, effectively disabling memory protection.

Just in my last vanilla-engine mage playthrough of Hexen I got one visplane overflow on Bright Crucible, and one out-of-nowhere "Z_Free: Freed a block without ZONEID!" error on Deathwind Chapel. I was about to get ticked off :P

I am not sure how to take screenshots in Hexen. I know Heretic used -ravpic instead of -devparm, so you might try that.

Okay I just noticed the version display at startup and yes the one that was crashing was 1.0, while the one that works is 1.1
