Hello all,
it seems that when I have more simultaneous sounds some of them are cut. Is there any notice of a similar bug in gzdoom? What can be the cause? A configuration? My audio card?
John

Go to the "sound options" menu and look at this. It's probably at too low a value, such as 8. Set it to the max; it really shouldn't make any perceptible performance hit since the sound system is in a different thread.

It might also be the sound card; just because GZDoom claims to support up to 255 channels, doesn't mean your card supports a number anywhere near that.

Sound mixing is done in software, by FMOD Ex, so the 256 channels are supported no matter what the limitations of the sound hardware.

Hardware channel mixing is long dead, and The only currently manufactured sound cards that support it are maybe Creative Labs' X-Fi line (and not even all of them). In any case, if we're talking about just plain mixing with no EAX or other effects, even a 486 could handle CD-quality mixing of 32 channels, with room for visual demoscene effects ;-)
