that stargate looks mighty cool. I've had ideas of doing a stargate in doom but now I think it would be pointless as I probably couldn't do it better than you.

Good luck. The original Dues Vult compared to the original Doom levels, is like what Lord of the Rings is to a soap. Bigger, more EPIC, and DAMNED more enjoyable! Hell, whenever a friend comes round we ALWAYS play Deus Vult co-op, and they all remember Deus Vult for being that big-ass level that looks ridiculous :P (in a good way)

Good luck with this project, eagerly anticipating it :)

Not all DVII maps are going to be 40k monsters that takes months to complete. For every epic map, there should be around five Scythe sized maps for speedrunning and faster paced gameplay. I'm getting the epic maps out of the way first so I can have some fun with the small maps later, as none of the maps I've made so far (4) are under ten minutes in gameplay duration.

So basically, it'll be six epic maps plus twenty-six scythe-style maps? Well, that's fine with me. I just hope map30 isn't going to be a letdown like Hell Revealed 2's map30 was.

Hey everybody. I'm a beta tester for this wad.
Just gonna update you guys a little bit.
Current Build: 04562.wad (July 29th, 2007)
Size: 79,495 KB - And theres only one mp3! A small one at that.

Difficulty wise, this wad isn't quite as nasty as it's
predecessor. (But map25 does have a pretty amazing fight)

Performance wise.. map25 has more linedefs than all of map05
of the original deus vult..
I have..
AMD64 3200+
2gigs of ram
and I get about 40 fps at the lowest(main fight).. so if your system
can handle map05 of deus vult, then I think you'll most
likely be good to go for Deus Vult2 when the time comes.

Currently we are working on ironing out all the bugs regarding
BOOM compatibility. We've been lazy testing in zdoom lately, but
now that map25 is nearly finished, we're going back through
and making damn well sure this shit works flawlessly on Boom, so
have no fear.

For example: In the case of an MP3, a ZDoom feature will be used to play it.
When played in Boom however, a midi will play.

Maps complete:
4(Mutagen Labs), 13(VRack4), 18(Eagle's Nest),
and 25(cathedral) is about 99%. Minor tweaks remain.
I don't know how many others he might have under construction right now,
but I'll tell ya.. what I have seen is pretty damn amazing.

If only 4 maps from 32 are completed, then we shall play this wad not earlier than in 2015

I believe the 4 mentioned above are the "epic" levels (like the original Deus Vult). The others are more Scythe I-esque I believe so hopefully not much longer :S

At this rate, yeah. But development speeds up when college isn't in the way.. as mentioned, not every map is crazy. Maps 13, 18, and 25 are all pretty damn epic in my opinion. So thats three done.

The maps are definitely some of the best I've seen in a very, very long time. Huy never ceases to amaze me. Gameplay wise, the levels (completed anyway) range from Plutonia type difficulty to damn near insane (in a good way).

I'm sure everyone will be more then happy with the final product when Huy finally gets this baby on the market.

I, myself, eagerly await the first UV maxdemo completed for map25. That will be award worthy on it's own.

So far I haven't seen a single map that I'd classify as a "slaughter fest" where DV 2 is concerned. Sure, there are certain parts in the last map (map25) that features some serious opposition, but it's in no way a slaughter map.

Oh no, no demos from me. I'm not quite as serious as I once was. Now I just play the maps to play'em. I'm going to leave all the demos to you youngsters haha.

I'm more then happy just watching them nowadays :)

It's all good. Been playing around with prboom.. I never realized how much
easier it is to play on these modern source ports.. sheesh.

Youngster? hah, how old are you anyway?
Well, thats a shame. You're demos from dv were really good.

Haha, maybe I should have said I'm leaving the demos to people that weren't (to my knowledge, haha) recording them back when I was doing it more seriously.

I'm a whoopin' 28 years old. Still young compared to some of the members on here, but getting up there nonetheless lol!

Thanks for the nice words on the demos from the past though man!

This is shaping up to be a very impressive looking megawad thus far. I enjoyed the original Deus Vult immensely for the epic battles and overall look of it. DVII looks to be doing just the same. Can't wait to see this one done!

I've gotta ask you something Huy. DV showed alot of remarkable architect for a single Doom level. Are you studying to be an Architect in College or this all your artistic creativity?

A little off-topic, but does anyone have the original Deus Vult? I checked the release thread, and the link appears dead.

Hmmm...
What's a website with wads on it? Puzzling, really.

I assume by "DV" you meant the first Deus Vult? When I made DV, the ideas came from observing Andy Johnsen's and Kim Malde's works, and executing them in my own style. I opened their wads in Doom Builder and reverse engineered some of their designs to fit my level... the revenant curve of DV Map03 is a good example of this process.

I had a brief brush with Architecture from Fall of 2006 to Spring 2007. I liked the classes at first but eventually the program became too grinding for me, this blog explains my fallout with architecture in more details. I'm schooling to apply for the Neuroscience in Fall 2008.

He may have done so, but failed to use the "title" or "whole textfile" choices.

Searching for the file name isn't as easy because the name is DV and the search engine refuses searches of less than 3 characters. In any case, using dv.zip will work.
