playing Ultimate Simplicity beta on Zdoom

I started playing the newest version of Ultimate Simplicity (beta) from Agent Spork's site (http://doomrealm.mancubus.net/simplicity/?page_id=26)

...and when I play the HUD is messed up, i can only see the player's face and the ammo count on the bottom right. It says "Get rid of the normal DOOM hud!" on the screen at all times, but I don't know how to do that.

I'm using ZDoom version 2.1.7 and I tried searching the topic on these forums but I have had no luck finding what I'm looking for. I apologize for being a general idiot (I'm sure the answer is simple) but I'm stuck playing the game without knowing how much health or armor I have and its a wicked pain.

Press the = key on your keyboard to remove the normal Doom HUD and instead use the new HUD overlay. You can press - to change it back, and use - and = multiple times to shrink/expand the onscreen play area from very small to fullscreen.
