Maybe I should perhaps try making a single Hell Revealed style level. But there will be none in WOS.

Could be neat after you did WOS just to see how hard you can make an HR style map.

Its very difficult to make these types of maps because item placement is so critical. The more monsters, the more ammo and health is needed, etc. I've never tried this before.

I've started work on map19 and it's progressing nicely. It's named "Cryosleep" and is situated in a large icy cave and a medieval underground castle complex. Over 2100 lines at the moment. :)

Screenshots will be posted later on.

Haha nice coincidence : I'm working on an icy/castle map on Arcane Doom which is number 19... can't wait to compare the two maps :D

MAP18 almost there, about 95% complete. Layout complete, now ehh... its the monster placement and gameplay. I hate doing this, but its got to be done. WOS site will be updated on the weekend.

Map19 is at 4750 lines now and is about 45-50% done. Some shots of it will be posted on the website during the weekend, too. Dark, icy caves and nasty surprises. :)

Map19 is almost done. Working on the final parts of the blue key area which is needed to exit the map. After that a few twitches on gameplay and le voilą! :) It's a big, icy map with nasty surprises, and, doom2 difficulty. No HR maps from here to this project, either :)

Looks very atmospheric and detailed, and if it's as good as Kristian and paul's levels (especially 2002 A.D.O, and Twilight Zone 2), then I'm going to be really looking forward to this set!

Thats our aim dude. For an entire megawad, of dark, atmopsheric levels. And in several months time you will be playing this baby.

BTW: Kristian did not make any levels in The Twilight Zone 2. In fact it was just me that made all 32 of them.

Map19 is done. It took me a real while to work on it on/off because of job stuff and various real life surprises :) But it's done now and very atmospheric indeed :))

Next stop, map20 and some CC4 stuff perhaps. ;)

Paul I've always admired your work, but i know exactly how you feel. It's the main reason Darkfyre and Myself quit making Doom levels; The majority of the community would rather troll and say childish things to insult the authors rather than provide any constructive criticism.

Back in the day, uploading a level to the idgames archives was actually appreciated, today, everything is mocked and considered under-rated, b-grade stuff even if it's truly an amazing wad.

Good luck to you Paul, Similarly, I quit mapping for the same reasons you mentioned, but will continue to play Doom for a lonngg time. Thanks for contributing so many good levels to the community, despite the hate from the kids and their "circle of friends".

Oh and I can't wait to play WOS. Make sure it's coop friendly! :)

Not much has changed in Dehacked. The enemies are pretty much stock. Though there is one secret enemy in the Dehacked which is basicaly a modified Cyberdemon that replaced the "Deal Lost Soul" thing.

Yeah, that's very nicely said.

But I'm moving on with life after WOS is complete. With so many other projects going on today, it aint easy mentally in my spare time to even get started on something. Next I'm going to make MAP11 for WOS.

Going back 8 to 10 years were the fun days of level making. When I was working on The Twilight Zone megawads, etc. I even worked on a Wolfenstein episode back in 1996/97 but I haven't released it because it was pretty crappy actually.

I'm going to have to take some time off WOS because of another non Doom related project (such as remixed music for a stage play, ect) going on around in my personal life. Kristian plans to make MAP20 next if he hasn't mentioned it.

We only have 10 more levels to make and we are planning a release date sometime next year with March the earliest possible month.

MAP21: 2048 B.C - is about 80% complete and is a small hellish town where you teleport to seperate areas to lower each key so you can exit the map. It should be finished next week unless my computer blows up.
