Actually, there have been two versions of E4M4 on the site for a long time, named E4M4.wad and E4M42.wad.

Exactly how different from each other are those two maps? Were they from totally different authors or from one same author?

If they differ significantly then both of them can accomodate slots in the maplist, thus reducing your "spaces-to-fill" workload and speeding up the release of the grand thing.

The weirdest thing is if there were 2 versions why isn't E4M42.wad in my site's directory?

Edit: To clarify the current E4M4-2.wad is from Vermil's correction. I'm not sure what he means by E4M42.wad because it's just not there.

There were two copies of E4M4 on the site (E4M4.wad and E4M42.wad) when I downloaded them all. Both were the same except that E4M42.wad had an additional structure in the bottom right corner of the map.

I bug fixed both versions and sent them to Ler. Though one could assume that E4M4.wad was simply an earlier version of E4M42.wad that was mistakenly left on the site.

Okay, it's the beginning of March now. I said I was going to get on people's asses now, and today is the start of that. If we can get people to actually FINISH their maps maybe we can get this shit done by the end of the year.

I'll be sending a pm to everyone who hasn't finished their maps, reminding them to get on their shit. To be nice I'm also going to give everyone a clean slate since we've been kind of out of the loop for a bit. I'd like to see this project finished as much as the next guy, so let's get to it.

Edit: Maelstrom seems to have signed up at the ZDoom forums. Could someone there remind him that he's signed up for E5M4?

Ler, am I gonna be listed as one of the team leaders?

Well, I lost track of most things including this. I got e1m1 and e4m3 mostly done, I just lost the interest in finishing them. I will look into it soon.

Well naturally. What, you think I forgot you? :D

Edit: BTW E1M6 is an open slot, now. if Janitor/Patrick Pineda wants to take a slot again he'll have first dibs but otherwise it's fair game.

Maelstrom has informed me that he is still working on his map. Just needs to find some time to do so.

The E2M7 slot is now open again, as Remiel has dropped from the project. Tell your friends!

I have had e4m3 done for several weeks now. Heh, please tell me about any bugs. There is included difficult settings (just the normal, removing some monsters on lower skill levels).

www.torn-net.dk/maps/htce4m3-torn-done.wad

I will check into e1m1 this weekend I guess or later, it just needs just some scenery in the surrounding areas.

Hi, its me again, I was wondering what you mean by this:

E4M6: fenriswolf (finished, will boot up, haven't checked farther than that)

As far as I can remember nearly all bugs were fixed. So is there anything left to do for me?

The comments for the maps in Ler's first post are out of date.

Though the authour information etc is correct.

A lot of things are out of date. I'm not going to have a lot of time this month to motivate people or anything, so I kind of have to just yell at you really quickly to get shit done. I don't know when I'll have a lot of freetime, really.

Well I can't say anything about the gameplay balance because I couldn't finish this map without cheats, but it looks absolutely amazing! Great mapping and I didn't notice any switch or trigger bugs.

I was able to beat it on uv (er... heretic equivalent) without too much trouble; and I the kind of guy who hates hellrevealed gameplay so its not that hard. :P

@rf': I just played through your map and it was superb. The level design and detailing is fantastic, especially at the exit area (my favorite spot). At first I was thinking, "why so many tomes?" but my question was soon answered. It was a very hard fight but it is beatable and I think the difficulty is perfect for the final map. The only bug I noticed is that there are no secrets. Maybe the small, dark halls with the rings could be secrets?

I NEED people to test through my map.
http://files.filefront.com/gold2wad...;/fileinfo.html

It's 3/4 completed but I need to just get some help on the general tone for monster fights, ammo and health.

If I remember, you don't get a final score toll at the end of the episode anyway so what's the point? :P

I'm totally stoked about this, anything that I could Heretic related is usually just a few levels and the such. Heretic was a damn good game in my opinion, one of the first games I played along with Doom. Loved all 5 episodes. I can't wait to play this now, I have a feeling this will make all the other custom Heretic pwads pale in comparison to what this will turn out to be. Good luck guys and work hard, just make sure you don't rush things too much. Time is but of only temporary moments, but quality will last forever. I'm pretty sure you guys have got things handled anyways. :)

Okay, played through E1M1 and I like it so far. There's a few pointers and nitpicks I have, however:

- The switch elevator doesn't work properly - it raises properly, but than when you lower it you go below the original floor level! And, you can only raise / lower it once.

Also at the beginning, due to the spacing of the bars you can fight all of the gargoyles without them even harming you.

Everything else is just visual. I felt that the outdoor areas were WAY too bright, while the darkest areas were WAY too dark. Texture choices were decent - I like the brown theme but there are better textures to use for the ending archway than recolored floor / ceiling textures....

Indeed, I feel the exact same way.
In fact, this even deserves to be entered into the Guiness Book Of Records as "the first & largest Heretic community project".

Well since I am very envious about this project and wish to help it in any way possible, I will put Asphyxiation to the side for a while and work on the E1M6 slot, if no one else has plans to take it so far. I think making a Heretic map would be pretty fun and different than a Doom level. After playing Kaiser's big ass E1M5, it will probably be a medium size to keep a balanced flow of different size levels. I'll get a map up here as soon as possible.

EDIT: I'm making good progress on the map, I've got a really nice looking cavern part that's got some serious detail, parts have collapsed in and part of the level will consist of an ancient outpost that has mostly fallen apart due to magma in the cava and the other parts might consist of wetlands.

I made a colored version of my previous title picture. The Heretic palette is not exactly easy to work with, but I think it ended up well :-)

Hey, I found some free time. Sorry for neglecting the project, it's just lots of stuff happening, school and whatnot. I imagine this will pick up around the end of May.

So Aldaraia has E1M6, to clarify. I'll update the first post. I know there's a lot of things that people have tested for maps that I haven't gotten around to checking (and I can't quite check since I have to use dosbox now) so can whoever was doing that pm me your results?

Awesome, is there a certain or rough estimate of a deadline before compiling the maps ler?

And since testing for my map is a bit away, I do have some screenshots of what I have done.
